Payne427
I know by now everyone's tired of replying to my noob questions but, I'm going to try to tackle the weapon designing.(Have not seen a WWII US Browning M1928 BAR without the added grip). Where should I start? (As in software/program wise) Thank you.
dubiousintent
1. The M1928 BAR has been done. 2. There is a LOT involved in making a new item to add to the game. It is much easier to copy and then tweak an existing item. But there are risks of crashing your game involved if you do it incorrectly. The basics of the meshes and textures are the same among all the games using the GameBryo engine. To get an idea of what you are getting into (and the software needed) check out "The Elder Scrolls Texture Guide" (TESTG) site. Start with the topics under "General Information" in the left hand navigation pane. All of these tools and concepts apply across the board. Then you will need tools specific to FNV, such as "The Garden of Eden Creation Kit" (aka GECK: which has tutorials), and FNVEdit. 3. It is always advisable to get familiar with the game as it was designed before you get into heavily modding it. And by "modding" in this instance I refer to adding mods created by others to the basic game. Creating mods is a huge time sink with a fairly large investment in simply learning the basics of what to do. Mod creators seldom spend much time playing the game because they are always chasing down bugs in their mods. A mod that isn't compatible with both the vanilla game and the most common mods used by others will get ignored, and then all your effort is wasted. So be sure you REALLY want to get into mod making before you start. It can eat up years of your life. -Dubious- Edited January 31, 2016 by dubiousintent
