elinverge
Hi, i was trying to add instructions to my companion, does it matter if I put the instructions (like follow, stay, show your inventory etc) under Addtopics or Choices? i tested and they seemed to be the same. Secondly, by mistake I used up the two EMPTY topics when I add new topics rather than right click - new, does it affect the game in anyway? Thank you
David Brasher
AddTopics will be there forever after whenever you talk to the NPCs again unless you place proper conditions on them to only make them available when you want them to be. Choices lock the player into dialog mode where he or she cannot leave without making a choice. Choices are only visible during that particular conversation and are not still there when you come back and talk to them again. So you do not have to carefully place so many conditions on them. There are important uses for both methods of dialog info display. For your companions, it probably doesn't really matter. Using EMPTY is bad, and I recommend that you go back and move those dialog infos to new custom topics you create. The reason it is bad is that if two mods mess up and use EMPTY, then only the last one in the load order gets to use it. So if someone else's mod loads after yours, then your mod will be broken and your dialog, which might be very important, will never be displayed.
