[Request] Silver chestplate without bracers

Hi,

 

Can anyone mod the silver chestplate to remove the bracers? I've located the file (f_w_body2305.arc) and tried to do it myself but ran into problems:

 

Approach #1: using transparent textures

I tried to edit model\pl\f\f_arm_i\f_arm_i201\f_arm_i201_NUKI.dds to full transparency. Dunno why but the texture became garbled after repacking. Tried using photoshop instead of GIMP (cos GIMP has tendencies to f**k up game textures), but no avail.

 

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the original texture is in DXT1 no alpha format. Tried to swap with another similar image without transparencies and it pack/unpack fine. Didn't bother to test it in game though.

 

Approach #2: Model swapping

I tried to swap model with f_w_body2307 as described in moutona2pis post.

 

The game whines it can't load model\pl\f\f_arm_i\f_arm_i201\f_arm_i201.mod, which I believe is the bracers mesh. So it seems that the parts are controlled elsewhere. If only I know where so I can remove the arm reference.

 

So far I'm dumbfounded. Can pls anyone help?

 

Also, anyone know what f_w_body2307.arc used for, and/or another piece of clothing which have the same appearance and stats similar or higher (not lower) with silver chestplate but without the bracers?
