Post-patch CTD when in workshop menu/ workshop mode and generally

Ok, I think I figured out the textures. Verifying Cache with the INIs removed resulted in no Custom.Ini being place in My Documents. I put backmy old custom ini,, i.e. with

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

and the textures were all good, and it even brought back the Kerrigan Bodysuit and Nano Armor. (Alas, I didn't try the nano suit, but I'm guessing that was the problem there too.)

Disabling armorsmith extended seems to have solved this problem for me--not sure why it's causing issues yet

Wow, that's maybe the one mod, along with Home Maker, that I thought was okay.

I deleted my INI's and verified game cache (told me 2 files were missing/ would be reaquired) and got some total weirdness.

First thing I noticed was that my body (equipped with Kerrigan Bodysuit and Nano Armor) was invisible, and all the stuff I'd built with Snap & Build was missing. (The Home Maker stuff seemed to be okay.) I unequipped the Kerrigan Body Suit and was wearing underwear, and could equip vanilla outfits fine. However, nano armor was invisible when it was equipped, with the Kerrigan Bodysuit and with a vanilla outfit. Same routine when I tried the nanosuit.

Equipping vanilla combat armor along with cage armor worked fine, so I thought Armorsmith Extended is okay. (Although I still ended up CTD'g so who who knows...)

But then I noticed that all my texture mods weren't working (and I have a ton of them). Retextured store fronts, radios, etc... etc.... everything was back to vanilla. I'm very baffled about that.

Consider me uber-confused!

Not sure if it's important, but I had to uninstall amorsmith extended to fix the CTD as disabling them didn't seem to help--for what it's worth

Hmmn, I guess I'll give that a shot. I'm not really using it anymore anyways. But I'm still suspicious about Snap & Build (well, obviously since everything S&B is invisible for me) and can't imagine uninstalling that - all my settlements use that mod a ton.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Ok, just CTD using "snapable junk fences," so that seems to be causing issues, too -- guess I'm waiting for some updates.

I'm guessing S&B may indeed be the problem. Rather than deal with all my settlements being wonky (I freakin' love the S&B stuff), I think I'll just try reverting to my copies of the pre-patch .exe files and ini's and run the game the way it was yesterday. (Unless verifying game cache did something else weird!)

edit: dammit, everything seemed to be working well reverting to the old exes/inis but I'm CTD'g on fast travel now.

Ran into a strange glitch using the pre-patch .exe files so I decided to run the updated game and start trouble-shooting my mods.

And, aaargh... uninstalled every single mod with a plugin, leaving only the game's esm., verified game cache (1 file was reacquired) and still CTD. My char's in Sanctuary and it happens as soon as I run over and enter a building I made using the workshop. (Or, at least, what's left of it after disabling Home Maker, Snap 'n Build, and the rest of my construction mods.)

What the hell?

Currently uninstalling all my texture mods (a boat load) to see what happens. Oddly enough, I found a post on the web where some guy found that his post-patch CTD problems were caused by a single .dds file "Toaster_s.dds" A flippin' toaster!! Anyways, the aggro continues...

I think it's time for me to install a nosteam patch....

Man, these updates always cause some kind of hiccup, but today's is driving me crazy!

The good news is that uninstalling all my texture mods resulted in me running around (in an exceedingly bland environment) without crashing! The bad news is, sigh, reinstalling 100+ mods and narrowing down what the problem was (hopefully not some massive texture overhaul). Gonna keep a keen eye out for rogue toasters...

At least there's a good (?) chance that Home Maker, Snap 'n Build and other workshop mods are okay. Dunno how to continue playing with the half-built structures that'll otherwise be littered around the Commonwealth. (Fingers crossed anyways.)

yeah well i am now locked in 1.37 until i decide it's time to update and it won't be for a long time until i'm sure no mods are going to cause trouble!

SCREW OFF STEAM

That you can't control the updating of your own freakin' game is ridiculous. It's like they add that, non-functioning, option not to automatically update just to rub it in!
