yoba333
Hey! I'm finally buying my new laptop, today or tomorrow! I was wondering what would be better. One nVdia GTX 485M card or two SLI Mode GTX 470Ms? I will not be using 3d, but I will be watching Blu-ray movies and gaming. Forgot to add this, would Crossfire Dual ATI Radeon HD6970s be good as well? Edited April 30, 2011 by yoba333
Erik005
What size laptop are we talking about? Laptops with high-power graphics cards usually have a very short battery life. If you are not going to move it around you should consider a desktop.
yoba333
Its a Sager NP-8170-S1.. 17.3 inches. A desktop is not really an option. I'll be moving it around a lot but always keeping a power cord close at hand.
RitualBlack
I am looking at that model also. If you have the budget to go for a 485 or xfire 6970's just get the sager 7280 with an i7 970 (desktop processor 6 cores at like 3.2 Ghz) and a single 6970  if you want to save a bit of money go for the single 6970 (you save like $300 and only are only like 5% worst than a 485, which is negligible when you consider a new card will be out in 6 months anyways). Check out benchmarks:AMDNvidia And I have know idea if you find any of these links helpful, but here are a couple reputable online stores :)xoticpcMalibal you can also check here:Clevo Guide v2.0 Edited May 5, 2011 by tttttt
CommanderCrazy
Not the 485. The 485 is slightly less efficient as a card, and as they have similar power of each other, the dual 470's would far surpass the single. yoba333
I went with the 485 on the Sager NP8170-S1. It was more in line with my budget and I felt like it would still be a very nice system. It'll be here in a couple weeks :)
RitualBlack
Congratulations on ordering your new laptop, and I am sure you will love it (the 485 is one powerful card :) )
