Is Shivering Isles Really Worth $30?

To those of you who have bought SI, is it really worth the $30 that Bethesda is charging? Or do you think I should wait awhile, see if the price goes down? I'm not entirely sure if I should buy it or wait...so input is helpful. I really like the idea of Sheogorath being an actual character, as I loved his Daedric Shrine quest (and Wabbajack!), but $30 seems like a pretty steep price for an expansion set.

Thanks.

IMHO SI is the best expansion BethSoft ever made for a TES game, even better than BM which I also liked a lot. Nice storyline, great characters and a much more "morrowindesque" scenery which was one of the loudest wishes of the community - so I think it's absolutely worth it, though there are rumours about a GOTY edition coming out soon.

I wouldn't Expect a GOTY unless the make a second expansion, which they won't, but who knows eh? I'm from australia and it costs about 40 here, and I'd pay that if I didn't already have it. You should definately buy it, but as to when you should, buy it once oblivion get boring. Have you finished all the game yet? If no, then do that, then when you get around to buying SI price may drop. Sorry about the poor grammar, i've had to much coffee and i can't puch shift properly.

The real question is not if it's worth it but is it worth it TO YOU. That is something no one else can answer. What will you be giving up to invest that money? Would you rather have use the money on something else?

SI is fun but not especially high on replayability. If $30 could be better off spent on a great aunt's present so she leaves you $5million in her will... On the other hand if it is 3 pizzas or whatever you should remember that while the game does give you something lasting, anything that remains with you days after eating pizza is probably not anything you really want to keep.

I was mostly asking this question to see if people felt like it hadn't been worth it to them, because I'm seriously debating whether or not to get it now or wait until later. I guess the pressing question here is, did you feel that you got your money's worth? Generally, if other people are saying that they didn't feel like it was worth $30, that's not a very good sign at all.

I didn't consider that GOTY possibility, so I may hold out for that. Thanks!

I got it for about £20 which, given the amount of gameplay added, I would say is a reasonable price. I'm always looking out for VFM. For example, I got SupCom for £15 in Morrisons last Friday.
