dpcollier128
I use Exnem's Female Body Replacer, but I can't find any cool tattoos that I can use that are easy to interchange like jewelry. All I can find is retextures of the original body that can't be interchanged while in-game or they can be interchanged in-game but they completely replace parts of the body (like replacing the upper body for chest tattoos in the manner of a cuirass or shirt). Neither of those are what I'm looking for. It's up to the modder to choose what tattoo or the properties of the equipment. I just think that the tattoos should be easy to equip like a ring or an amulet. I accept no credit for this suggestion; it's just food for thought. Am I just talking to myself? EDIT: Merged posts. Bumping isn't allowed on these forums, so please don't do it. Thanks. ^^ - Switch

However I was wishing for the same thing and I'm so glad you suggested it. There are many creative and talented modders out there who would probably really like your idea too. Don't worry, when they finish the mods they are currently working on some of them will most likely come here looking for new ideas and they will see yours. Just give them some more time. Oh, just a suggestion, you may want to read the site rules on the Gaming Source Network Forums page-good info for newbies like us:<)
dpcollier128
Thanks for replying. I think I figured out how to do it, though. It's a bit of a hatchet job, but it's pretty simple. This is the method I found that allows one to apply tattoos like jewelry. I don't know if this belongs here, but I already made a thread for it so here goes: 1: find the Exnem Nude Body mesh (upper, lower, hand or foot, make your choice) and its corresponding texture2: open the texture in your favorite dds image editor (the GIMP, Photoshop, etc.)3: save the texture under a different name or in a different folder to avoid overwriting any important data4: use NifSkope (or some other similar program) to place the new texture on the Exnem Body mesh that you found, save the mesh with the new texture as something other than the original mesh5: add alpha property to the mesh (this will allow transparency, but nothing happens now)6: go into the mesh's data and click on the symbol that looks like an artist's pallet (in NifSkope), change the text box that says "Skin" to say "EnvMap2" (this will change it so the mesh is calibrated like clothing) and confirm the change7: back to your texture, it should display the skin texture for your mesh. Use whatever method you want to apply a tattoo to whatever body part you like, but apply the tattoo on a different layer instead. Make sure that the background of the tattoo layer is transparent and that the tattoo layer is on top8: remove the body part reference layers and save the texture however you like, but I suggest you save it as the same texture that you have on your mesh9: back to your mesh, you should see that most of it is transparent except for the tattoo that you applied. If it just looks white, then go up to your render settings and play with the lighting a bit until the texture looks right, and revert the lighting settings back the way they were10: save the mesh for good measure, open up the construction set, and apply the mesh to a peace of clothing or armor as either a ring, amulet, etc. as long as it does not replace a body part (tails only work if you use it on non-beast characters). Save that plug-in11: play the game with that plug-in activated. Do whatever you like to get the item that you made, and equip the item. The body part with the tattoo on it should be the only thing that changed12: enjoy your new tattoo and the knowledge of how to make more of them I hope you enjoyed this little walkthrough. I figured this out completely by trial and error and by looking at how Growlf applied his (or her, I can't remember) tattoo meshes (my method wasn't anything like that but it helped). Please don't hesitate to leave comments or ask questions. PS: tattoos using the amulet slot or tail slot do not appear in first person view.Rings do appear in first person, however.
