Deleted4363562User
In the image below you can see an armor I am working on. There is a problem with the textures rendering for the armor piece on the back as well as the leg pieces. The armor on the back, I took from the Combat Armor by importing it into Maya as an FBX file, simply deleting the unnecessary faces and vertices, deleting the non-deformer history and then exporting as an FBX again without the CBBE skeleton. I did the same thing with the leg pieces, then I imported all of them to Outfit Studio and converted the outfit to a nif, which I then edited to point to the proper textures and materials. Everything shows up fine in both Outfit Studio and NifSkope. I just got the armor in-game and now this happens. I was told that as long as I didn't alter the UV map that the vanilla textures for the armor pieces would work fine. So I don't know what I did wrong here. Deleted4363562User
Ok, I didn't change anything but now I can't equip the armor without CTDing. I deleted the nif data for the armored legs and back and now...no CTD. I obviously did something wrong. Hopefully, someone will have insight. Junnari
I haven't yet really tried making any custom armors, just weapons, but I've noticed that the game is really sensitive when it comes to data within the .nif, as having single empty NiNode or having two parts share same string can cause things to crash. Deleted4363562User
Well, here is the nif if anyone would care to eye it up and tell me what they think is wrong with it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/l2w4wgxrg5f5b1h/Vault%20111%20Overseer%20Armor.7z?dl=
Deleted4363562User
I think I need to add the vanilla armor materials paths to the nif. I don't even think I've been using the materials for them.
Junnari
Yeah, they seem to have no material path set to them, but aren't using null (string -1) either.

Mind telling me what to do here?
Deleted4363562User
So how do I create a new Header to point to the Materials? I've only ever edited existing ones, and I can't figure out how to add a new one.
Junnari
You'll just need to find the directory and file name for the vanilla material and add it to the BSLightningShaderProperty into the Name slot. This can be easily found by simply opening the original .nif of the armor part and copying the material string from there. The directory should be something like "Material\Armor\CombatArmor\CombatArmorMaterial.bgsm".
Deleted4363562User
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I finally got it in-game exactly the way I want. I even figured out how to add Ballistic Wave and modify the base attributes. Now I just need to start working on a retexture. I would feel proud of myself were it not for all the help everyone has given me. I can't thank you all enough.
