I've been encountering a strange problem involving the boss chests in my newest installation of Oblivion. At first, I was attributing it to my character being low level, so I didn't expect to see great loot when I finally made it to the boss chest in a dungeon... But now I'm level 37, and I figure I have to open at least eight boss chests before I find one that has relatively high level stuff in it. I saved the game just outside of a room containing a boss chest and I've been repeatedly going into the room to try to get nice stuff. And I have consistently been getting ridiculously small sums of gold and maybe one or two items. And yes, I understand that the loot is randomly generated each time... but seriously? 5 gold? 1 gold and a soul gem? At level 37?? I guess what makes it feel even more like a bug to me is the fact that the typical loot container I find now gives me somewhere between 50 and 100 gold (plus a random item or two), which seems pretty reasonable for a character of this level. And every once in a while (like, literally maybe one in twelve attempts), I'll open a boss chest and get 700 gold... It's just very strange and frustrating, especially since I've closed almost thirty Oblivion gates now and I'm still looking for a couple of magical rings that I've had with prior characters. :rolleyes: So... Any ideas? Could there be some bizarre setting in the configuration file that got changed somehow? Or could it be some weird side effect from a mod that I'm using? I'm running the GotY edition (with all the official plugins and expansions) along with the Unofficial Oblivion Patch 3.2.0 and the Unofficial Official Mods Patch 15. I've done some troubleshooting with the mods (ticking and unticking them at startup), but since I downloaded the game from Steam, I REALLY don't want to try reinstalling it if I can possibly help it. :ermm: Sorry for the long post, but any help and/or thoughts on this matter would be hugely appreciated!!! Thanks! :happy: Oh, and I posted this in the technical support part of the forums because this really seems like a glitch to me, but if this topic really belongs somewhere else, the mods are obviously welcome to move it. :tongue: Please? I've gone up three levels since I made this post and I just got to a boss chest with a single gold coin and one potion of feather. This is weird.
