NinjaBob2312
Ok, so the strangest recurring bug is hitting me while playing today. For some reason which is beyond my understanding I'll walk up on an NPC who has a weapon. Sometimes while watching them, the weapon just vanishes. It doesn't go into their inventory, they don't drop it on the ground, they didn't draw it, it just flat out disappears. A notable instance of this was in Ranger Station Charlie before the joint gets hit by the legion. The comm officer, as I watch him walk behind his desk, his revolver vanishes without a trace. I even shot him a few times to get him to fight me and his weapon was still missing. Now heres the kicker, if I save (after the weapon has vanished) and then reload the save game, he got his gun back. A few minutes later upon reaching Novac, there was a trader caravan in town, and none of them had weapons, although one of them was holding his hand like he was supposed to have a gun in it, but there wasn't one. I did the save reload thing again and it fixed the issue. I really have no idea what is going on here with this, I'll post my running mods here. I'd also like to point out that when I engage one of these npcs in combat who has a missing gun they still behave as though they have one in combat. Sidestepping and gesturing at me in a gun like way while I kill them. Edited May 4, 2011 by NinjaBob2312
NinjaBob2312
No thoughts? I'm really at a loss as to what could be causing this. Short of a full reinstall I'm running out of ideas.
quicksilverva
try placing falloutnv at the top of your load order and see if that fixes it. if it doesnt, then i have no idea
NinjaBob2312
try placing falloutnv at the top of your load order and see if that fixes it. if it doesnt, then i have no idea Tried it, same issue. I've taken to punching the quicksave in combat when I notice the bad guys not shooting back and then quickloading. It's immersion breaking but not quite as bad as this quasi-godmode I've managed to somehow engineer here.
carlosjuero
Use BOSS [or the FOMM built in BOSS sorter] to sort your load order - my guess is that your load order is so out of whack that things are just not firing properly/loading properly. As an example, you have the WMK Deadmoney patch loading before the WMK mod, this will [in itself] screw some things up.
TheTuna
Bumping this, as I've been having the same problem (in both FO3 and FONV, funnily enough). Will re-examine my load order and see if I can pick out the culprit; anybody run into something similar? The weird thing is, it only started happening recently (i.e. I've been through Hidden Valley like a dozen times and the paladins all have weapons, I go through now and they have nothing). Checking their inventory with the console reveals that they still have the weapon, and the game thinks it is equipped, but nothing is there. If I delete and re-add the weapon with the console, they then draw it again; it's the weirdest thing. EDIT:I've BOSS'd and Merged Patch'd my load order, and the problem remains. As described, a quicksave/quickload fixes the problem in the immediate area, but still....weird. Any ideas? Edited July 2, 2011 by TheTuna
TheTuna
Bumping again, as the problem has been recurring and I can't figure out a way to solve this myself.
