synthesiserpatel
Hi guys, I'm sure you're inundated with irritating messages such as these where people fail to successfully install even the most basic of mods. I hate to be one of those people, but I'd really appreciate the help. I have Oblivion GOTY Deluxe edition from Steam, which I am currently (re)downloading into C:\Games\steam\...\Oblivion All I want to install on top of this vanilla version is Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (I have the 1.33 .exe), Qarl's Texture Pack 3 (likewise, I have an .exe), Mart's Monster Mod (3.0 OMOD), Darnified UI (1.3.2 OMOD), and Reneer's Guard Overhaul (.bsa) Last time I tried this, I encountered a number of problems, including wolves turning into purple heads, and a number of clothing textures missing. It also didn't seem like Reneer's Guard Overhaul was working. I know it should be simple, so I apologise, but for some reason it just wasn't working. I have deleted everything and am starting again, and here's what I'm planning on doing. Will this work? 1. Install GOTY Deluxe Edition2. Install Unofficial Mods for Oblivion and Shivering Isles3. Install OOO using the .exe4. Install Mart's Monster Mod using Oblivion Mod Manager5. Install Darnified UI using Oblivion Mod Manager6. Install Qarl's Texture Pack using the .exe7. Install Reneer's Guard Overhaul (can I use OMM with .bsa files?)8. Play! In theory, should this work? Do I need to use OBSE / BOSS? Thanks so much in advance! carlosjuero
Personally I would download and use OOO 1.33 Complete OMOD ready pack rather than the executable file. Also make sure you install the most up to date patch for it [1.34 Beta 5 I believe it is]. RGO has more than just a BSA file, there is an ESP required for the mod as well [RenGuardOverhaul.esp]. For missing textures you need to ensure that A) you are following install procedures to the letter [which is why I suggestion the OMOD version of OOO as it is easier to tell if the data structure is messed up or not] and B) turn on Archive Invalidation [either via the OBMM option or via the mod utility available on the nexus] My suggested install order would be: 1) Install GotY edition of Oblivion2) Install Unofficial Patches & Updates3) Install DarNified UI OMOD4) Install QTP5) Install OOO OMOD ready archive mod version6) Install OOO latest patch[es]7) Install MMM [make sure you have downloaded the main file as well as the BSA files and patches - BSA files are separate from the required ESM's & ESP's, I also suggest downloading the MMM Omod Installer archive from the Nexus - it has OMOD conversion data that will allow you to create a unified OMOD for MMM, which takes out much of the tweaking needed otherwise]8 ) Install RGO [make sure that you are putting all required files in the proper places. RGO has an ESP to activate - there should be 3 files and 1 folder in the downloaded archive: Reneer's Guard Overhaul.rtf, RenGuardOverhaul.bsa, RenGuardOverhaul.esp and folder INI Files 9) Run BOSS to sort your mod load order. synthesiserpatel
Thanks for your help. I tried this, and I have a red box next to OOO in OMM Data file textures\menus80\icons\armor\cowlofthegrayfox\helmet.dds already exists- No data found on file.Data file textures\menus50\icons\armor\cowlofthegrayfox\helmet.dds already exists- No data found on file.Data file textures\menus\icons\armor\cowlofthegrayfox\helmet.dds already exists- No data found on file.Data file meshes\armor\dwarven\m\greaves_gnd.nif already exists- No data found on file.Data file meshes\armor\cowlofthegrayfox\helmet_gnd.nif already exists- No data found on file. Any idea what to do here? Thanks!
carlosjuero
OBMM should have asked if you want to over write those files, you can safely say yes to that prompt. The 'No data found on file.' usually means that the files to be replaced are either part of the vanilla game or a mod that has no information associated w/ OBMM [eg: you installed a texture mod manually]. Mods installed w/ OBMM will have conflict data associated and the over write message box will show which mod they belong to. OOO integrates armor mods that change quite a few vanilla items as well as adding new ones, I believe the grey fox cowl was tweaked w/ OOO - so if you had another mod that modified it then that is where the conflict is coming into play. You can safely let OBMM over write those files with the OOO files [which is why OOO should be so far up in your install order, any changes you make after that would then over write the OOO files instead - only advisable if you wish to use a mod that changes OOO default item to something you like better]. (The 'No data on file' error is a big reason why I use OBMM for all of my mod installation [with exceptions to Francesco's as it only comes in exe format, but it uses BSA files so it doesn't have actual file conflicts] - even with mods without OMOD data I will create an OMOD for so that I have more data on what is being over written [if anything])
