editor id issue

Recommended Posts

find the nvse_loader. exe, right click on it, and move your cursor down to "send to" and select "desktop (create shortcut)".

once you have the shortcut on your desktop, right click on it and select "properties".

the shortcut tab should be selected by default, and this is where, you add the -editor

find the textbox next to "target" (should be middle of the shortcut tab), and at the very end of that file path in the textbox, type in -editor outside the closing ". click ok. you can now use nvse with the geck

NVSE has no bearing on whether COC will take you to a custom cell [if the custom cell uses NVSE functions it will throw errors up, but not stop you from going there].

In GECK when you load your mod up and set it as active, what is the name displayed in the Interiors list? [Note: to rename a cell you can either slow double click, or click to highlight and press F2]

When you look at the cell listing it will show modified cells with an asterisk `*` to the right of the cell name. Are you certain the cell is not saying xxxxxCOPY001? [where xxxxx is the name of the cell you copied to get a base]

My suggestion is to take things one small step at a time:

1) Load up GECK and check FalloutNV.esm + your custom .esp [setting your esp as Active File]

2) In the Interior section of the cells list scroll until you find your custom cell [denoted by an asterisk `*`]

3) Write down the name of your cell in the exact case that it appears [eg if it is MycellNamehasCapsDistributed write it exactly, paying attention to upper case and lower case] {Note: I do not know if console is case sensitive but I find troubleshooting easier if I pay attention to it}

4) Install Fallout Mod Manager [FOMM, here on the nexus - http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36901] - the launcher data files selector can be quirky at times for me and I stick w/ FOMM

5) Launch FOMM and make sure your mod is checked off to load into the game.

6) Now, Launch the game (try once with NVSE, and once without NVSE) - load your save [or create a new one] and open the console

7) enter coc <mycellname> exactly as you have written down the cell name in step 3 above

8) Hopefully.. profit ;)

someones bound to know the answer to this im trying to change a target field for nvse_loader.log i supposed to add -editor to target field of shortcut but keep getting a not valid message and "make sure name and properties are correct " target field looks like this

c\programs(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\falloutnewvegas\nvse_loader.log with the addition of -editor but i just get the "make sure" message

now i know im doing something wrong here but have no idea what iv followed the destructions from nvse read me and as yet had no luck the other alternative is the command prompt option which seems more complex to me this looked to be the least hassle .........or thats what i thought anyway

this learning curve is getting steep

Er... nvse_loader.log is a text file that the executable uses. nvse_loader.exe is the program file name for NVSE.
