CaptainChaos
That's ok, I will retry. Can you recommend a good registry cleaner? Im always afraid to mess with those. And thanks again for your help!
CaptainChaos
no worries. just to be clear though - the game crashed when i attempted to launch it even before i could choose a new game or saved game. Will deleting the ini fix that? Also, can you recommend a good registry cleaner? I'm always afraid to mess with those. And thanks again so much for your help! And thanks again for your help!

uniblue is the best I use the old version 2 the newer one has ad ware in it, times change I guess. Also use the latest ccleaner too, it will come from behind and catch the things uniblue misses. But ccleaner will remove your browsing history which means it will also remove the Steam regs too. where uniblue won't. See the catch is not to allow the update to take place. That is if you intend to create mods that is? Whats going on with valve is they are in a control war with competitors and the new patch has in it things to Hampper modding. Ya just have ta be inside to know these things. Thats all I will say. Edited May 10, 2011 by ccmechanic2
CaptainChaos
Well, I rolled it back again before the update. I deleted ini file, used ccleaner, deleted the temps. Steam is offline and not updating it. When I try to launch I now get two problems - (1) it says there is no .ini file and i should reinstall fallout (2) it seems like it tries to go ahead anyway, but it CTDs saying that windows experienced a problem with fallout. I would try and reinsert the fallout disk to reinstall but it will contact Steam I'm afraid and update it. I'm pretty much stuck. Too bad - i felt like i was almost there having gotten version 1.2 back. Any other suggestions?

CaptainChaos
I disconnected from the internet and also made sure steam was offline. I put the disk in but it said i had to be connected to the internet and steam online to reinstall FNV. That's the problem I had a few days ago, and that's how I got reupdated to 1.3. I also tried your ini file but to no avail. I click on falloutnv.exe, the launcher comes up and then if i hit play, it briefly splashes the screen with one of the loading pictures and then crashes immediately saying windows has encountered and error with FNV. I thought maybe b/c I had NVSE installed it was messing things up, so I deleted all those files and reinstalled them, but you need to update FNV to 1.3. I even tried finding an older version of NVSE but it said FNV was too recent! (1.2). Seems like a Catch 22. 1.2 simply will not restart and there is no way to reinstall without updating to 1.3???? (btw, thanks but i guess you can remove your ini file above now...).

New ini from me and still crashy well then I can see one other option from valve that can help. You do have to log on manually right? if not then you need to set to do just that. Steam that is. this way it connects to the server and qualifies the game. But as long as you don't log in. the game should run. send me an E-mail and I can further elaborate on that subject.
