Murielkai
Hey I have an issue with playing NV on Windows 10. The console is bound to "tilde" or "~" key but my laptop has something called an IR device (or something like that) that is preventing me from using the tilde key when gaming (or at least that is what I have read in other posts). My Alienware R1 works fine but my new R3 is giving me trouble with this. I assume its software or driver related.I cannot find anything called an IR device in the device manager like many posts talk about, much less find where to disable it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Also, I have used a fix on Fallout 3, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Skyrim that rebinds the console key to another key. Why hasn't a mod like that been made for NV?
dubiousintent
An "IR device" is more properly called a "consumer InfraRed device", because it uses coded IR pulses to communicate without wires. Your TV remote control is an IR device. See this article to enable/disable your device in Win10. You are probably not seeing it because you are not using an "Administrator" account. Not all items are available to ordinary "user" accounts. I would suggest you search the Alienware Support Area, or inquire of them about the differences between the R1 and R3. I did find this description for rebinding the console key. No idea how well it works. -Dubious- Edited February 10, 2016 by dubiousintent
Murielkai
Yeah, I found that fix also. It's no help with Windows 10. It did point me in the right direction though. I am using an admin account, its strange.
