ashmuir
Hi folks, Like many people, I have become increasingly frustrated with spending a while creating some awesome characters for my campaign, only to have them change when they arrive in game. Attitude/scarring/camo/colours I don't really care about, but the class thing was really bugging me.I found out that there are lines in the DefaultGameDate.ini file to help with this, but they don't seem to work at the moment. I'm either interpreting them incorrectly, or the character pool is bugged.'InitialSoldiersCharacterPoolSelectionMode''RewardUnitCharacterPoolSelectionMode''RecruitsCharacterPoolSelectionMode'There are 3 options for these lines:'=eCPSM_Mixed' - A mixture of character pool creations and randomly generated soldiers'=eCPSM_RandomOnly' - Randomly generated soldiers only'=eCPSM_PoolOnly' - Character pool created soldiers onlyChanging the RewardUnit to PoolOnly, and the other two to RandomOnly, should mean that all the characters created become available at some stage in the game as a reward or purchasable soldier from the Black Market/Resistance HQ. At this stage they would already have gained some ranks so should be the class specified. All other soldier options should be randomly generated.However... It doesn't seem to work, and my initial/recruits soldier pool is always a random mix. Has anyone had any joy with this? Am I interpreting the ini lines incorrectly?A work around I'm using at the moment is to edit the rookie training times in the same file to 0, not using created characters until I have a GTS, then training them instantly to whatever class I desire. However, I don't really like this and it feels like a cheat, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Stated the wrong ini file in the title, it's DefaultGameData not XcomGameData... All I'm seeing when I close my eyes are .ini files. Apologies. Edited February 10, 2016 by ashmuir
TscNightmare
I'm having the same problem bud. Did you find a fix yet?
ashmuir
I flooded the character pool with lots of random characters in an attempt to reduce the chance of getting the characters I was really bothered about as rookies, it worked after a couple of new game starts. However, even when created characters appear later on in the game at a few ranks up, they still have randomly assigned classes! I made a little mod that edits the ini file for the Guerilla Tactics School training times to 0 and I'm just doing it that way until the bugs are patched out of the character pool http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621436214 - link to GTS mod if you're interested.
