drakeelvin
Most likely the file that failed to validate was one of the game INI files that gets updated if you change any default game settings, or if you manually edit them for mods and such. There are three INI files: $(STEAM)/SteamApps/common/fallout new vegas/Fallout_default.ini$(DOCUMENTS)/My Games/FalloutNV/Fallout.ini$(DOCUMENTS)/My Games/FalloutNV/FalloutPrefs.ini Don't ask me why they had three that share so many settings. I don't know and I don't think anyone here or even at Obsidian or Bethesda knows, but if you change your game settings from the launcher at least one of those files gets updated. If you do have any mods you are using that changed or required you to change settings, those changes got nuked when you verify the cache integrity. -- Something that someone mentioned quite awhile back which was, to me, very unexpected, was they said some of the regional download servers don't necessarily mirror properly. I have no idea if that's true, but I have always downloaded my updates the Chicago region server and I've never had much trouble getting NV to run on my laptop: I use 64-bit Vista with a pretty low end Intel video card, too.
