Breaking the Siege of Kvatch bug.

I find myself unable to complete this quest as when in the Sigillum Sanguis and after I collect the Sigil Stone I am left in the Tower in Oblivion without the quest log updating itself. I have already tried re-loading previous saves numerous times, as well as exiting the game completely and loading it anew. Still no luck.

 

I've played Oblivion before but this has never happened. Does anyone know how to overcome this? Oh, I'm playing the PC version if that helps at all.

 

P.S. I've tried conquering this potentially game ruining bug with the console to no avail.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which update are you missing? The Sigil Keeper's Key is not essential to the game IIRC as you can pick the lock on the Sigillium Sanguensis. However if you want to add the JE via the console it is Setstage MS28 40. There appears to be no further JE in that quest prior to the entry into Kvatch, although you can try 50. There may be an update in one of the Main Quests (MQ ref).

 

If you are stuck when collecting the Sigil Stone I have seen other threads on this, so do a search on the forum and see if there are any clues.

The second locked door can be picked, but the first has a 'needs a key' lock.

 

Since this is a quest related oblivion plane I'm not sure if this'll work, but it's worth a try. Make sure you have a backup before doing this:

 

Open the console (~)

type: closecurrentobliviongate and press enter.

The gate will close, You'll be teleported outside and hopefully you'll get the journal entry.

Someone on another forum suggested using closecurrentobliviongate and it worked.
