devinpatterson
I'm working on something akin to a Wild Wasteland encounter. It involves an eyebot with a serious personality disorder, who is basically a complete ass. Causing trouble, bullying etc. He's also a pretty good gunslinger. I'v got some of his equipment set up but need advice on his Sequoia and gunslingers belt. I can add weapons using a modified eybot skeleton from Kzelsama's Gatling ED-E. But if the nif has multiple parts like the cylinder, frame, trigger, etc on a Sequoia it (the geck) crashes when I select it in the geck. If I remove the the nitristrips for the other parts, the Sequoia frame connects up just fine for the outlaw eyebot. I can live without the hammer or trigger, but not having the cylinder is a show stopper. So I was wondering, since I don't need to have the cylinder spin or the hammer fall what is the best way to make it all one solid model/mesh (is that the proper term?). I have blender set up with nif support, so if it is required I can go that route. The second issue I'm having is with his gunslingers belt. The holsters are of course anchored to a biped at the hip, which is working great for protectrons and even fits ok with the sentry bots. But I need to convert so I can use it on the eyebot. Any ideas on the best course of action. I thought I would try copying over the nitristrips branch from the holster to the hat the eyebot currently wears but am having trouble and getting "failed to map parent link NiNode|cowboy hat (even though I renamed the holsters 0 NiNode to cowboyhat). I realize these are complicated questions and I probably havn't expressed them as well as I would like to have, but I would be grateful for any help. I would also really appreciate it if anyone knows of any tutorials for attaching items to non-biped models. devinpatterson
Is it a functioning weapon or just for looks? I do want it to be a functioning weapon so the eyebot can fire off rounds. Right now he has a minigun nif but it doesn't have any moving parts (no animations, no rotating barrels etc) and I'd like to do that with a Sequoia. Quetzlsacatanango
Kinda confused... we are talking about floating eyebots? I can picture one with a gunbelt, with a gun in it. But how does he draw and fire it? Not having hands and all. Edited May 12, 2011 by Quetzlsacatanango

But how does he draw and fire it? Not having hands and all. Yeah it is a little weird like a wild wasteland type encounter, but it's also important for an ongoing project with a western amusement park. I just want the pistol to hang off of his laser. Here is what I'd like it to look like (disregard the missing cylinder);http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/8579/eyebotseqoila1.jpg but of course that doesn't work in game. He shows up without his pistol. So you question about the gun being functional made me think. My original plan really hinges on gatling ed-e. The mod hangs a gatling laser on a slightly tweaked eyebot skeleton. Here is a in game picture of him;http://imageshack.us/f/833/eyebotsecuritynocolor2.jpg/and the mod that has the modified skeleton & gatling laser; http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37365There are another 3 or 4 types of (heavy) weapons included in the mod to hang off of ED-E, but I havn't tried them yet. I'd like to hang a sequoia off the same point (using transform->edit to position it in front of the laser). But your question made me think I could have a non functional gun hang on the same point and edit ed-e's zap gun to fire 45-70 ammo and the result would be almost the same. But that's just my idea and I'm very new to this, I'v only used nifskope to re-texture stuff and attempted to add a pack to a big horn. If there is a better way to do this I'd appreciate any advice or pointers Edited May 12, 2011 by devinpatterson
Quetzlsacatanango
So he doesn't have to put the weapon away, right? If the answer is yes I don't think it's very hard to do.

I'd be nice if he could holster it, but it is by no means a requirement. He'll spend most of his time with his pistol out anyway, as he goes about threating people, challenging them to a gun fight and being a overall general pain in the ass.
