Mods I create don't seem to work.

I'm a pretty big newbie with the GECK but I've been able to make simple item mods for Fallout 3 in the past. Tonight I thought I'd make the naughty nightware a suit instead of PJs. I got the mesh and textures from a cool mod I found on this site. I fully edited the NN in the Geck and everything seemed to be fine. I previewed it and it looked good. No problems. But when I load the game and go to Mick and Ralphs to purchase my new version of Naughty Nightware. It's still the same old NN. I renamed the item to "Lucky Suit". I've remade the mod from scratch like 7 times and I've spent like 2 hours trying to figure out my problem. If someone could help me solve this or simply make me the mod that'd be awesome. It'd seriously take an exp mod maker probably 5 minutes max.

In the "data files" dialog box of the game, did you check the checkbox for your mod? Did you perform "archive invalidation"? These are the two most common problems when you cannot see the effect of a mod in-game.

Lol ya I activated my mod under data files :) But whats this archive invalidation you speak of?

Well I remade the mod from scratch AGAIN! Everything looks good in the GECK. I downloaded Fallout New Vegas ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated and ran it but my problem still persists. I'm really about to be done with FONV forever if I can't even get a simple mod to work. The mesh works and the textures work. I did everything in the GECK to make textures work. I might be a newb but I've done things like this several times in Oblivion and FO3 and not once had a problem. This is my first attempt at a mod for FONV and so far I'm pretty pissed. I've tried making a completely new item but that didn't work the first 4 times I tried so I decided to replace an already existing item. I did EVERYTHING I've done in the past for FO3 and Oblivion that produces working mods but for some reason with this new GECK my mod just won't work in game. I go to the location I placed the item and it's just not there. I can't even add it to my inventory from the console(Well I can add Naughty Nightwear but it's not the version I made). If someone could figure this out for me I would be so thankful. I've seriously been working on this simple F--king for over 4 hours now and it should have only taken me 10-15 minutes tops.

You can download what I made to see if theres any problems.

Just remade the mod 2 more times from scratch. Reorganized all the file structures and still doesn't show up in game. Can someone please help me I'm going freaking crazy over here.

In the rar file, you put the esp file inside the data\textures directory. Is that where it is on your disk? Then I don't see how it could show up in the data files dialog box. Maybe the rar doesn't correspond to what you have on disk. I unpacked your rar and then moved the esp file to the data directory where it belongs. Your mod seems to be working for me.

In geck, the item code for your item is 000c8e07. I used the console to give myself this item and it shows up as "Lucky Suit" in my inventory. I gave it to Boone and took away his other armor, and he is wearing it. It's a black suit, red tie. When I uncheck your mod to run the vanilla game, the same item shows up as leopard print pajamas.

Are you able to load and run mods from other people successfully in FNV?

Ya the rar was just a mess. I just kinda tossed everything in there. I've got everything in the right place. I've checked move times than I can remember. Other peoples mods work fine for me just not that ones I create on my computer. I used another person's mod that added some clothing. I played his in the game and it worked just fine. Then I decided to test it by making an exact copy of the other persons mod myself. I left all the other mods files in place and the mod I made doesn't work. It's the same mod, same item, same textures used by the original mod, and it just doesn't work when I make it. I did disable the other mod before i tested mine. I am happy to hear that it actually works for someone. I'm going to try making the mod on another PC and see if that works.

I bet if someone else remade my mod and sent it to me it would work. In exchange for your time I will give you nothing. Just a simple "Thank You" and a warm fuzzy feeling.

Well I sent over all the resources to two (2) other computers. I downloaded the GECK and installed it. I made the mod from scratch yet again and my mods just don't f***ing work. (Sorry for the swearing but I'm so frustrated) It's just really pissing me off that I just got to the strip and I want to gamble but I don't want to wear that stupid f***ing naughty nightwear. I just don't know what to do anymore. I broken a lamp and kicked a full 2 liter across the room (my toes really hurt now). I've read several tutorials on this so far and I guess I'm doing everything right. I don't know what to do. I make the mod right and I just wont show up in game. I check the stupid little box, I download FOMM, I do f***ing everything people suggest and still mods I make just wont work for me. They work for everyone else but just not on PCs in my house. f***!!!!!!

UPDATE: I tried making the simplest mod ever. All I did was go in and change the name of the naught nightwear to "Grimp" and that mod doesn't even work. So I thought maybe the NN just cant be edited for some reason. So I changed the name of the grimy prewar business suit. And yet again failure failure failure. I feel like covering myself in bbq sauce and running into deathclaws.

For what it's worth, I'm having a very similar problem with even making a simple mod. I tried just making a new footlocker by renaming a base, and I can not even get it to show up in Doc Mitchell's house. I've made mods in the past, and had no problems like this before. I'm sure I'm activating the ESP, the files are all in the right places, and I'm running ArchiveInvalidation through the FOMM. The only thing that is different is that I switched from XP to Windows 7 Ultimate. Which OS are you using? And yes, I've disabled my UAC, and I installed the game to a separate hard drive. This is very frustrating.

I'm not really sure what to suggest. I am able to run grimpman's mod fine. I am not able to find any obvious error in it, apart from the mod file in the wrong location in the rar. But he says it's in the correct location on his system. Do you have any other mods activated? Deactivate them. (In my run I have no other mods loaded.)

Do you have any other mods *installed*? It has been claimed that files which go to mods that aren't activated, can still mess things up; I don't know any specifics but it may be something to try. Check if there are any esp/esm files besides the base game files and your own in the data directory; check if there are any new directories/files under data/meshes or data/textures.

I am not able to come up with any other suggestions about why your mod works for me, and doesn't work for you.

Not to completely hijack this mod, but in case it comes to help either of us. I tried creating a simple mod that moves the operating table in Doc Mitchell's room in Goodsprings (the one you start in). It shows up fine in the GECK, but when I load a game / make a new game, nothing has changed in his room. I sent the mod to a friend, and he can't get it to work either, despite having success with other mods. There has to be some stupid config thing that I'm missing, though I am almost at the point of tears.
