kuunkulta
So I've been trying to edit right-arm light leather armor in Outfit Studio to zap some parts but any edits to the armor cause CTD when I take any damage while wearing the armor. I simply cannot figure out what the problem is. I did similar edits on metal and raider armors' right arms and they have no issues whatsoever. Does anyone know what causes the problem and how I can fix it? Edited February 15, 2016 by kuunkulta
Kikaimegami
Can you stick your edited NIF in a zip and attach it to a post here?
kuunkulta
Can you stick your edited NIF in a zip and attach it to a post here? Sure thing! Premade nif and bodyslide files included
Kikaimegami
If you don't have NifSkope, then grab that. I changed the name of the NiAlphaProperty block on both pieces and it doesn't crash my game. Yours has it set as "Chest_Rear_skin". What you need to do is go to the Name entry in Block Details for both NiAlphaProperty blocks and click the little "txt" in the value field, then backpsace so there's nothing there and click OK. kuunkulta
Tried it and I still seem to crash.. But I forgot to note that the CTD occurs only when I get hit by an enemy (ranged attack at least) Edited February 17, 2016 by kuunkulta
Kikaimegami
Yeah, melee attacks weren't causing it for me, so that's my bad for not testing ranged  I did just have a thought, though. I noticed that both shapes in that NIF have subsegments on their last segments, when they shouldn't have any because you got rid of the other bits of the mesh. What you can try doing is editing those out in NifSkope. Now I haven't actually tested this myself, but I do know that issues with the segments and such can cause weird crap. It's worth a try, at least. These are the entries you need to edit (and remember to click on the update array that I've highlighted in yellow): Just do the same thing for the other shape, making all the Triangle counts match "Num Triangles" and make "Num B" match "Num A". I do know that exporting as OBJ in OS and then turning around and re-importing each shape can sort the segments too, just name them differently than the originals (or rename the originals first) and for each shape you import, set it's original as the Reference when you go to copy bone weights. You'll also need to change their textures or they'll have weird ladyflesh on them instead  (Now watch this effortpost not fix it either  ) Edited February 19, 2016 by Kikaimegami

Kikaimegami
Heeey that seems to have done it! Big thanks to you! Hooray! You're welcome :) I really need to like.. make an annotated list of possible solutions to NIF-related errors, because there's a multitude of frustrating (and sometimes hilarious) ways stuff can break, and an equally sizable pile from so-obvious-you-smack-yourself-for-being-an-idiot to convoluted clusterf*#@s of solutions...
