Geeves83
Having kind of an odd problem that I can't figure out. It started with the caravan pack; anytime i tried to fire the sturdy caravan shotgun, I got a CTD. I narrowed the problem down to my personal mods and tweaks esp. What I don't understand is that I haven't changed anything that, at least as I can see, should cause the crash. I haven't changed anything about the 20ga buckshot ammo or buckshot projectile. I just kind of ignored it and just didn't use the sturdy caravan shotgun for the game. But, I've just recently installed FOOK, and am getting the same issue. It's only 20 ga buckshot and magnum, but not slugs or tranq rounds (my added ammo), and only with weapons added by other mods. Opened up all my mods in both the GECk and FNVEdit to take a look, but can't find anything wrong. Anyone know what could be happening?
deu58
Is this a vanilla shotgun that another mod changes? What Mod uses the sturdy shot gun? Not big on shotguns myself so I do not know where the sturdy shot gun is exactly. If you run that mod alone does it work? I have FOOK so if you tell me what mod uses the sturdy item I can maybe take a look. and at least see why it crashes with fook.
Geeves83
It's actually in the Caravan pack pre-order dlc. But all non-vanilla 20ga shotguns are having the problem, apparently. But I think the problem is with my personal mod esp that makes quite a few changes, admittedly, but none of which I can see causing this problem. The pre-order shotgun and other shotguns work fine if I disable my mod. I'd really like to avoid that, since I put a lot of work into it Edited May 14, 2011 by Geeves83
deu58
Hmmmm ok. I do not have any of the DLC's for FNV yet. You can equip the gun it sounds like no problem. But pull the trigger and ctd. So I will ask the most obvious question first. You have confirmed that all the mesh and textures paths for the ammo are correct? My FOOK is a litle older and I am not sure what the most recent is. I only downloaded it to run some tests with my own mod. My Fook is actually disabled and gathering dust. I will check the version and see if there is a sturdy shot gun in my version. I only downloaded less than two weeks ago.
deu58
Ok it is not in my fook and I need the dlc anyway so I am SOL there because i cannot access any files to reproduce the crash Generally when what happens to you happens it is because of an incorrect file path or an incorrect mesh /texture in the folder. It really sounds like a bad file path though. I had a problem once with the calibre mod where the texture was missing from a piece of ammo but the game did not crash. When I fired the weapon instead of ejecting a cartridge it would eject the red marke with a question mark. That is why my suspicion in your case is an actual incorrect file path. There may be an actual file at the end of the file path but it sounds like the actual NIF in that folder may be the wrong one. Or because of three different mods one path may be to a Bethesda BSA and the FOOK path may be to the Stand alone mesh and textures folder in your DATA folder. Best guess I can make with out actually having the files to look at. Wish I could be more helpful but that is the best I can do while blind. Maxunit
Posted this in another topic already, but will post it here, since I had the same issue. I checked all my mods using FNVEdit and found out, that FOOK replaced the original muzzleflash for the Shotgun. Vanilla file is: riflemuzzleflash01.nifFOOK wants to use: 25mm.nif This nif is completly missing in the current and newest FOOK release for Fallout: New Vegas. If you have FOOK installed, open up your Fallout - Meshes.bsa, search for riflemuzzleflash01.nif and extract it to: Meshes\effects\muzzleflashes (You might have to create the folder structure effects\muzzleflashes) then rename it to 25mm.nif. OR: Open all your mods using FNVEdit and modify the entry for the Buckshot Muzzleflash in the FOOK file from 25mm.nif to riflemuzzleflash01.nif (I haven't tested this method, but it should work as well, but go with the one above the "OR" to be sure, that everything works fine)
blove
FOOKNV did not change the shotgun muzzleflashes. How did you add your ammo? Hopefully by overriding AmmoList20Ga with your edited list, NVSE ListAddForm would be okay, but AddFormToFormList is bad with ammo lists.
