Trouble with travelling

Recommended Posts

It's been quite for some time, I ignored it at first since it wasn't so regular, but now every time I get out of town (E.g. from Chorrol to Skingard) I always crash to desktop. It happens even if I don't use fast travel. I suppose it's a mod conflict, but where should I start looking for it? If possible, without uninstalling Oblivion and mods.

EDIT: Nevermind, I started a new game. It seems my savegames were corrupt for a long time.

Try temporarily disabling any mods you have that you feel reduce your fps a lot. Since I have no idea what mods you have, it is very difficult to guess where the problem might be. In the worst case scenario, disable half your mods, and see if the problem goes away. If it does, the problem is probably in the half you disabled. Keep narrowing it down until you find the culprit.

Disabling mods doesn't help. This problem adds more mystery - Playing earlier savegames allows me to freely, without any crashes or errors, pass theese lands while later saves crash on theese places.

Also, in Wrye Bash most of my latest savegames are purple (AFAIR this means they're in best condition right?) Yet I crash on those.

By the way, I used a couple of cheats. Can that be a problem?

Some cheats are apparently more dangerous than others, especially if you use them a lot. You can compare saves and maybe narrow it down that way, if it's a mod. See what you added since then. If this happens when there are no mods active, and bashed patch is not active I think your save has problems. What purple means is pretty much just that the mods associated with that save are the same mods you currently have active. It's an indicator of it probably being ok, but it isn't a guarantee.

This is from the documentation.

Saves List

Purple: Good. Exactly synced with currently selected mods. Blue: Good. Compatible with currently selected mods. However, current mod set includes some mods that are not used by this save game. Green: Good, but not in sync with currently selected mods. Use Load Masters to sync load list to this save. Orange: Some mods have changed order. Oblivion and TESCS will adjust for this when you load. However, if some of the mods that you depend made conflicting changes to the same item, a different mod may now dominate because of the reordering. Red: A master is missing. You should check to make sure that you have not inadvertently renamed or removed the mod.

Okay, I'll try to use no cheats at all starting from this point. What I mostly did is simply setactorvalue and add some money, but after that lazyness got over me (Since the mods i play, one of them disables markers of the cities when new game) so i used a lot movetoqt to get to quest target faster. Will drop the usage of it and report.

I had problems with crashing games all the time, because of too many mods installed = conflict issues.

Try adding the oblivion stutter remover plugin for OBSE, and also downloading Streamline. Those 2 mods/addition helped my game so much that it doesn't crash at all even with 200+ mods. Streamline will even increase your FPS framerate and graphics.

And the third and most important one: weOCPS, the ultimate crash preventer:

Doesn't fix bugs, but keeps the game running regardless. It's essential. I hope it helps ;)

Seeing how other people post their mod list with extended limit of 255 plugins, I can't see that i have many mods :S

I'm gonna try a fresh reinstall of everything and see if it helps.

And thanks, i've put in the stutter remover but I didn't put weOCPS and Streamline.
