Yes yes, I know, there's the construction that lets you send rookies for training. Sense you don't start the game with it, it's pointless for my needs. I certain ideas in mind for my rookies from the very start of the game and I'm getting sick of the game not giving them the right class(s). Example, I made a guy that I like using as a heavy gunner, so I want one of the 3 that would work for him. Jane Kelly I have a very specific class I want for her, the Enforcer, that fits the role I like to give her. The game seems to pick a small handful of classes when a rookie is promoted and only gives you one of them. For instance, the last 15 minutes I've spent re-loading and promoting Jane and Cameron over and over and over. Jane only gets gunner, ranger, and infiltrator while Cameron only seems to get infiltrator and lookout. Neither of them are getting what I want and it's starting to piss me off. I've tried using the save scum mod that was made but that doesn't seem to help in this situation.

So, please, if anyone has even a remote idea of how to pick a rookies class, we really need this mod.

*edit* wrong post lol

Your post: so kinda like Commander's Choice from EU?

I believe someone is working on that at the moment iirc. Cannot find source, however.

Researching this type of request is a great way to learn the code. After traveling through the uc and ini files for an hour, I found a solution. Would you be happy with an ini file change that makes the GTS "train" button take either one day, or zero time? Please try this. In your directory ...steamapps\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config, find the file DefaultGameData.ini. Make a backup copy of this file. Then edit the file with your favorite text editor and search for the text: XComHeadquarters_DefaultTrainRookieDays. Change this as you like. I did not try this, but it seems like it should work. The game reads this as an int, so I suggest you try "1" first. You can try "0" which might work, but you can't use a real number like "0.1" or anything.

Let us know how that works.

well i am working on it right now tilarium , should be quite easy to make commander's choice- just take the current stats and save them, then reset the soldier back to a rookie and give him a rank up with the desired class, that's gonna be using stock code already in the game so not a lot of a hassle (but the ui the damn ui!)

I don't suppose you could just make it so the Guerrilla Tactics school accepted squaddies? That was gonna be my fix, and wouldn't break that part of the game.

or you can just use the console command

Note: This will change your soldier's class.

WARNING: Will demote/promote to Squaddie.

eg. this will make your soldier a Ranger at Squaddie rank

MakeSoldierAClass "First Name Last Name" Ranger (With quotation marks, excluding nicknames.)

Ranger
Sharpshooter
Grenadier
Specialist
PsiOperative
