Crashes on start up

OK so i was playing fine earlier today took a break for a few hours, added 3 mods a weapons mod, armor, and texture, then the game refused to start kept crashing when the Bethesda logo showed up or just a black screen then back to desktop. So i did a fresh install with no mods and it didn't help, so what i ended up doing was deleting the Oblivion.ini and that fixed it. my question is what can i do to for this to not happen again? did the mods crash the game? then how come a fresh install didnt work?

 

running a GOTY steam vs

win XP 64bit

HD 3870

4g ram

 

game wasn't really heavily modded at the time

A fresh install may not reset the Oblivion.ini.

It is not typical for a newly installed mod to crash due to an ini setting.

More often it's because you don't have it installed properly, there is something the new mod requires that is not installed, Needs OBSE or there is a missing master (esm)

 

However, resetting the ini is an easy thing to do (Much easier than reinstalling) and does fix some problems - so rename your ini instead of removing it. That way if it turns out to not be the problem you can put your modified ini back again.

i cant get mine to start up every time i try to run it. it crashes i try deleting that Oblivion.ini thing but nothing happen it still will not start i try to reinstall 7 or 8 times and the same thing happens it has no mods and it will not start :( plz help me

i dont know much about computer but i like this game and would still like to play it
