Striker51z
hey guys, i got fallout new vegas and after i beat it once i plan on installing some mods. How do i get things going. Like what programs do i need, where does new vegas need to be installed to make the mods function properly, how do i install the mods on new vegas. Im just coming from fallout 3 and i can tell things are different with steam (freakin piece of crap).
Moraelin
Actually, it works exactly like in Fallout 3, except now your game folder is buried 6 ft deep in Steam's own folder tree. You unpack the mods in the Data directory, invalidate the archive, and launch the game. And that's pretty much it. You can also get the latest FOMM version, if you didn't already, as it makes managing mods and invalidating stuff easier. Then again, at least my version seems to have come pre-invalidated, and just loads whatever loose files in there without any extra settings. CommandantOreo
Just make sure to get NVSE(NV equivalent of FOSE)!
Striker51z
ok do i have to install new vegas any where specific?
Moraelin
Nope. Any-old-where on the hard drive is just as fine. As for NVSE, well, it's only needed if you use mods that need the NVSE. I actually managed to avoid it myself so far, since I'm paranoid about executable stuff.
bben46
Actually, FONV MUST be installed in your steam folder - Wherever it is on your computer. The game installer will look for it and install there wherever you put it - Mine is C:\Games\Steam. However, the default steam location is c:\Program files (x86)\Steam

nitetrain8
yeah, can i get some links? Just search newevegasnexus for FOMM and nvamp, and from that you'll be able to figure out pretty much anything you need.
