The 1.2 Patch Finding Answers

I have been researching the subject on this and other forms, and I'm having a bit of difficulty finding good answers. It is my hope that this thread will be able to serve as a source of solutions for people with problems with the patch, or people deciding whether or not to get it in the first place. If enough power users with info respond, perhaps it can be pinned as a ready resource

Here is a link to the official Elder Scrolls site that describes the patch:

http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/upda...patchnotes6.htm

1) I do not have the patch myself yet, because I use over 60 mods, and I'm waiting for some of them to catch up. There are a lot of people doing this. But that is another question. Do I even need to hold off? Are there certain types of mods that conflict with 1.2.0416? I am finding that varoius mods have problems with 1.2.

2) The official site has version 1.2 .0214, and version 1.2.0416. They are different sizes. Do I need to load both of them? I know that Shivering Isles comes with the patch and those people need to DL the 1.2.0416 version to cure the form ID problem.

3) I use OBMM to manage mods (which I highly recommend). What effect does this have on the patch? One post I read refered to unloading OBMM, then loading the patch, then reloading OBMM. Is that necessary?

4) I use Zachrodts 4096 high res textures, and I have new lines in my archiveinvalidation.txt file. Should I temporarily put in my original archiveinvalidation file, or does it make any difference?

5) Lets cut to the chase. What should I do if I want to patch to 1.2.0416?

If you have some answers for me and the others who post here, your input will be appreciated.

If you know of links that you want to post here to solve problems, please do so.

Thanks

This is the answer given to me by lhammonds (http://forum.gamingsource.net/index.php?showtopic=36778&st=10#) as already reported here

Install this way if you do not have Shivering Isles:

1. Install Oblivion 1.0

2. Install Official 1.1.511 Patch (only if you want the launcher to be fully functional)

3. Install Official 1.2.416 Patch

4. Install all Official Add-ons

5. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod)

6. Install the Unofficial Official Mod Patch (user-made mod)

Install this way if you have Shivering Isles:

1. Install Oblivion 1.0

2. Install Official 1.1.511 Patch (only if you want the launcher to be fully functional)

3. Install Shivering Isles (which brings Oblivion to 1.2.201)

4. Install Official 1.2.0416 Shivering Isles Patch

5. Install Official Add-ons

6. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod)

7. Install the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch (user-made mod)

8. Install the Unofficial Official Mod Patch (user-made mod)

As for load orders which would be your next logical question, there are a bunch of forum topics on this matter and they vary in implementation. Here is just one of the handy load order listings I found.

For the archiveinvalidations issues I've always used BSA Patcher by Timeslip and I had never get any problem using it. For the load order in OBMM follow the link provided to me by lhammonds or give a look at dev_akm site here:

http://devnull.devakm.googlepages.com/loadorder

This site is also very useful for many other questions about landscape texture install order and many other things.

Anyway see yourself.
