DZ302
Hello all, inspired by this link and the discussion I posted on Reddit that really took off last night: I have decided to try and make some kind of scenario video of the 'ultimate zombie survival game'...A sandbox type open world game based on building fortifications and defence rather than fast action running and gunning in a linear map like all zombie games we end up with. Basically my ideas are to find some (not completely destroyed) house somewhere in the wasteland, use Real Time Settler to fortify it, get some kind of mod that has Zombies (can anyone suggest one that would be good for the whole scenario?), then I want to do is use console commands to summon a hundred or so zombies, and then have them attack the fortified house. Inside the house I would have say me and 2 or 3 companions, with relatively low ammo, maybe use an RPG or something from the rooftop, end up running out of ammo and having to melee with say an axe or sword. At some point the zombies would break through the barriers of the house (perhaps I could have a pause/camera change in the video and I would remove a barrier blocking a doorway and have them flood into the house, etc...Just things like that. But I'm not that experienced with console commands, RTS, or any zombie mods, so would this be possible? How can I get a wave of 100 zombies to come and attack me, is there a way I could say summon them a few hundred feet away, fire a shot at them, and then have them all aggro me? Or perhaps I could start the movie as a chase scene with 100 of them chasing me, I run into the house, and then start to build a barricade on the front door with RTS, shoot through the windows, run to the roof, etc... Anyway I'm just brainstorming ideas right now, I would appreciate any feedback, suggestions for ideas/scenarios, what mods to use, how to go about executing the scenario with console, etc...And please provide some ideas down to the smallest levels of detail, should I use VATS at all? Or Bullet Time in FWE? Should it be 1st or 3rd person? Or maybe both? I'm even thinking of details down to perhaps inside the house I would run out of ammo in my assault rifle, then run to a table where some magazines were laying, pick them up, or perhaps a pistol would be laying on a table, I would run out of ammo, run and pick up the pistol (but I would already have a duplicate of the pistol in my inventory and hot keyed to switch to), same thing for running to the roof and picking up and RPG launcher, etc... caramellcube
I'm still learning to use the GECK myself, but I think NPCs can be spawned using the PlaceAtMe command on an Xmarker. So if you had a house surrounded by a few Xmarkers, then had maybe a big light on the top, or a radio transmitter, or some item capable of attracting attention, and have it run a script that spawns a zombie at each Xmarker every few seconds for a minute or so, that might work. Apparently though when spawning NPCs in this way you have to be carefull to clean them up afterwards, otherwise it bloats savegame files and causes big problems later on. Anyway as I said I'm still a noob at this so there might be a better way to do it. For barricading a ruined building, the simplest way I can think of to do that is to have all the barricades already in place, give each an enable parent Xmarker that is initially disabled, then put something nearby that the player can activate to enable the barricade, with some requirement first like having to have 10 scrap metal or a repair skill of 30. So you could have a hole in the living room wall with 2 tables, 3 wooden boards, and a filling cabinet blocking it, then link all those objects to an xmarker as an enable parent, then have a spot on the floor with a hidden switch inside it that enables the xmarker. The mod sounds like a level on Zombie Master, where the human players have to fortify and hold off a house against a zombie invasion using havok physics to move the furnature. The concept seems like it would go great on Fallout if it could be done well, maybe test the player's priorities by giving them the option to stay in the house for better defense or go looking for better weapons and food at the risk of being out during an attack. If elements like fog, night, or swaying trees could be used to keep the player guessing if there are zombies out there at any moment or not it would really add some tension. Anyway, not sure if this is what you were looking for, but hope it helps.
