Thom293
So, I am the author of "Better Settlers" and I am having an issue that I can just not seem to solve on my own. When I initially made the mod, because it modded settlers, it did something to their face texture and it cleaned the dirt off of their faces. Mind you - I personally did not change the face textures - it was just something about moving them to an .esp that did it. The dirty face texture was removed - BUT also all racial/skin color was removed too. So it was a bunch of "pale face" settlers but with clean faces. I did not like that, and worked on how to fix it. It turns out I just had to check the "Is Chargen Preset" flag and it brought back all of the racial diversity. Yeah! Problem is, it brought back the dirty faces too. So what I would like to do is have the racial diversity, but without the "dirt" texture on their faces. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. I messed around with the head texture files, but it ended up with weird seams, gloss, or other unholiness. Can anyone give me any suggestions/pointers? This seems like it should be something easy to fix, but I will be damned if I can figure out how. Thanks in advance!
jeffglobal
Idk but in the textures/actors/character/?basehumanfemale?/characterassets/ there's textures that are "dirty" and not named dirty. Worst case scenario is change the dirty textures to the non dirty ones. I'm not on one of my computers with the game installed, or i'd look at them. Shouldn't the original esm file have the texture swaps it was using? So when you created a new esp and changed stuff you could compare? Are there master esm files to the settlers file controlling the textures? The master file would be in the left column of the FO4Edit screen, referenced in your file you are editing, not on the right side where you edit. On the other hand, it could be unconscious institutional gaming industry racism, which prior to now, I thought was complete bs. I've learned about master files controlling my esps just recently. I think from an Eli tutorial, not sure... Just that sounds racist too, now that I think about it but, they are there. DarthWayne
Sounds like the gray face bug. You have to export face gen data to resolve this, which is only possible with CK (as far as I know). Skyrim had the same issue with newly created actors.
