RiverOtter007
This is a newbie question, but, so forgive me if the answer is obvious. I understand that for the mods to work, it is best if XCom is installed outside of the "c\program files" (x86 for 64 bit)" folder. The problem is, I have the game from STEAM, and it won't install a game to a folder outside of "c\program files (x86)" because that's where the STEAM library is located on my computer (and it will only create one per hard drive). I don't have another hard drive available. I could move reinstall STEAM and its library to a new folder, but that would mean deleting and reinstalling *every single game* in the library, and that's a bit of a headache. Is there a simpler way? Just wondering. Thanks!
dubiousintent
All legitimate copies of the game are installed by Steam. Basically you can split the "SteamLibrary" on your system into multiple drive locations. Each time you install you get the option to choose a different location. Now if you only have one drive, there is a way around that limitation of "one Steam folder" per drive. That is to split your single drive into multiple partitions, which the system sees as different drives. This is best done when initially setting up the drive, but there are third party tools that let you re-partition an existing drive without losing data. If you do decide to re-partition, I highly recommend splitting all your games and data off the "C:" drive and onto another partition(s). That will make it easier to backup what really matters to you. See the wiki article "Installing Games on Windows Vista+". That has some additional information to supplement the Steam guide here. -Dubious- Edited February 19, 2016 by dubiousintent
RiverOtter007
Thank you. I found the easiest way was to move Steam and its library to where I wanted it, and then simply download the Steam app from the website and install it at that destination.
