ShinraStrife
I will be posting all development updates here from now on and will eventually make a timeline page on my project hub website. Riot Games has stated that using assets from the game League of Legends for non-profit projects is allowed. See legal info at the bottom. I'm working on three different variations of armor based off of the skins of 3 models in League of Legends. Lore:Before the nuclear launch, the US military was at war with china. With soldier units stretched so thin the military decided to start drafting women. Male soldiers had power armor at their disposal but with the lighter frame of a female soldier the military had an ingenious idea; Build power armor that compliments the lighter frame and weight of female soldiers and use them to conduct special operations and search and destroy missions in smaller units. The military research and development department was overloaded with work on their current power armor upgrade prototypes so they made a contract with a security research firm called Darkwater. Darkwater was to build 3 prototypes and the millitary would put the prototypes into production. The prototype suits built by Darkwater (codenamed Headhunter's Aegis) were packed in a transport plane and sent from their headquarters in Maine to the Pentagon in Washington DC when the missiles were launched. Nobody knows what happened to the transport plane carrying the prototypes but the time of missile impact would have made the plane crash somewhere near Boston...Suit specific specifications: (TBD means to be determined.)Headhunter Combat Suit Mk. 1 (Exo-A)The heaviest suit in the prototype pool, the Exo-A suit will get the most benefit when worn by female infantry. It provides exceptional protection considering its lighter build than traditional power armor, and is more fuel efficient than the latest power armor suit currently employed by the US military.Stats-(TBD)Unique internal functionality-Built in bracers give the wearer of the suit more strength, allowing the female soldier to carry more equipment on the battlefield, use heavier weapons effectively, and fight better in melee and unarmed combat.Headhunter Combat Suit Mk. 2 (Kilo-B)Offering a lighter weight than the Exo-A suit, the Kilo-B is meant to be worn by units that will not be under constant fire of the enemy and only protects the most vital organs such as the heart and lungs. The best role for users of the Kilo-B suit is a medic or marksman.Stats-(TBD)Unique internal functionality-Medicine compartments near the processing unit can instantly inject different types of medicine in a dire situation.Nerve clusters near the spine are given a slow steady amount of electric impulses to hamper pain sensation in the limbs.Headhunter Combat Suit Mk. 3 (Nano-C)The most lightweight of its kind, the Nano-C suit offers the most maneuverability and stealth. The Nano-C suit should be worn by units that will not be exposed to direct fire as it offers almost no protection to vital organs and is the most expensive suit to produce. The Nano-C users best fit for a military role is that of a sniper or recon operative as well as units that will spend a long amount of time in the field. It is the most fuel efficient suit allowing a single fusion core to last for weeks at a time, provided no external modifications or extra internal functionality is used.Stats-(TBD)Unique internal functionality-Material sensors can detect nearby terrain and adapt the surface of the armor to match your surroundings. The on-board computer detects when you are trying to stealth and activates the systems automatically. The armor has special bio extraction equipment located where glands and organs that secret pheromones in your body are closest to the skin, allowing the extraction of pheromones for use as an aerosol weapon. The aerosol pheromones can cloud the judgement of any human of the opposite sex, and can hamper their senses and situation awareness as well. (will affect charisma challenges in speech, hostile behavior towards humans of opposite sex, the ability to detect enemies, and relationships with companions)Concept art:Keep in mid that the armor sets aren't going to look exactly like this because I want a slightly more modern look. Permission for use of copyrighted intellectual property from the game League of Legends: This is a statement taken from the official website of Riot Games Inc. "We’ll start with our golden rule – you can use League of Legends IP as the basis for a fan project that you’re giving away for free or that’s only generating ad revenue (we’ll refer to this type of free fan project as a “Project”), as long as you comply with the guidelines outlined below for using our IP (the “Guidelines”). As a matter of fact, as long as you comply with our Guidelines, we think it’s great if you create awesome, free and original content for League of Legends fans." - Link to the page with the full permission statement What this (and the rest of the guidlines) says is that basically projects that are non-profit or only generating profit via ad revenue can use IP from League of Legends as a basis for their project. And that's exactly what I'm doing. I will not be uploading any models, textures, or anything else made by Riot Games. Instead I will be making the armor from scratch using the Headhunter skin for Caitlyn as a reference. If you have any comments or suggestions you can put them on this thread or on my dev blog or you can email me at [email protected].
