D3Dgear is one of the best video capture programs I have yet to use. I have used pretty much every free one, and a few paid ones. Fraps is the better known capture application to most people, and I have the full version of it myself. While it makes nice crisp clear videos because it uses the avi format it eats a lot of disk space. With D3DGear you can choose between formats which in the version shown above in the screen shots offers AVI1, AVI2 (Open DML), and WMV. It also allows for you to use the built in resolutions, or type in your own custom ones as well as to set the frame rate, choose your preferred codecs, quality of the video, threads, and so on. D3DGear unlike a lot of screen capture applications does not eat a lot of system resources or cause your computer or games to lag.

I have a lifetime sponsorship with this Programs owner, and I promote them on my site in exchange for helping promote them. I do not promote or endorse anything that I have not tried & used myself. If I have a problem with something I have used or tried, I do not support or promote it.

D3DGear is offered in both normal client as well as in a Steam client. I personally use the normal client most myself because I sometimes use the program while not in Steam. I also own it on Steam as well, and I would recommend that anyone interested in it to go for the Steam client as it keeps the program up to date without the need to visit the official site to check for updates. There is also a demo version for those who would like to give it a try before buying it.

If for any reason you need help with this program you can contact the customer support by one of the following options. Also another great thing I love about D3DGear is the fast response you get when contacting them for help, with questions, and so on. Good customer support is hard to come by these days as most of us already know.

PS: The version shown in the screen shots is not the latest version, but instead the one I currently use. As the saying goes, "If its not broke don't fix it". I do however have the latest version on Steam.
