Missing directories

I own a Windows 7 x64 bit pc and have a retail version of dragon origins, BUT! i read through all the guides (and checked youtube) and I'm missing folders in able to install the mods.

I used the search in the start menu and nothing shows up. It's even missing from "My Documents" and I tried "program files (x86)" but it only goes to core, it doesn't show packages or overrides.

The modder cant even detetct the directory.

(also some of the files are different extensions than the dazip. and ov.)

please help! :(

Welcome, Elizriel!

This article may provide you with a better general understanding of how things work: "Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies".

As noted there:

1) Except for a very, very few, highly specialized mods, (which will indicate this in their readme) they all go under your user profile, NOT under "\Program Files..."

2) If the folder "\[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override" doesn't exist on your system, just create it.

Happy Modded Gaming!

C:\Users\xxxDocuments\BioWare\Dragon Age\AddIns

C:\Users\xxx\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings

those are also ones you'll want. Some mods install to the AddIns folder, while your Addins.xml file is located in settings.

Tho, TBH, once you install a DLC or a mod, those folders should be created for you.

Good luck. And Welcome to the Nexus! :)

Not sure if they get created by default or not, but they'll both be there for sure if one installs TSP, which while technically a DLC, is essentially included for everyone. (And is essential for the game, imo! )

TSP?

You mean the toolset?

Damned acronyms, I just can't keep up anymore, LOL

If so then yeah, the toolcrap install would put all the necessary directories in the documants folder. Maybe not all the mysqul folders, but those arent needed for the game itself.

 LOL!

No, TSP is "The Stone Prisoner", the first, and largest DLC. Was essentially free with every intial copy of DA:O. Not sure if a re-sold (e.g. GameStop used section) version could get it that way, since the actitvation code had probably already been used by the original purchaser...

  • 6 months later...

okay, my question is somewhat similar: i've read the dummies' page several times, i believe i understand the difference between install protocols, and i know how to a) follow file/folder paths and b) extract (using 7zip, these days).

however, a small fix (golem registry/shaper's life reward fix) has instructions that i'm not sure i can follow: they say to install to

..Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\modules\single player\override

i get that it's normal to create an override folder - but am i supposed to also create the 'modules' and 'single player' folders in that path? because they don't exist. the only \modules\single player\override path I've found is via 'program files (x86)\origin games\dragon age origins ultimate edition\' (original install, via digital download with the Origin client)...
