Vigilo Confido: A Gameplay Overhaul Project General

Hello there,

I'm Scorpii, developer of the small Vigilo Confido mod here on Nexus and on the Steam Workshop. Ever since the release of XCOM 2, I started tweaking the ini files to my taste. First i started with simple tweaks: increasing the squad size from 4 to 6, modifying range values, and so on. I wanted the game to be more challenging as well as being fair and open in terms of tactics. As I modded for my personal gain, I started to think about ways to contribute to those who want more from XCOM 2. And thus, Vigilo Confido was born.

 

Right now, VC is in it's infancy. A basic overview of the mod so far is the following:

  • Longer Research Times
  • Completely modified range aim bonuses
  • An experience system redone to use a straight experience point system rather than one based on kills
  • A complete redesign of enemy stats to make them tougher and deadlier (increased HP, addition of armor, dodge, defense, etc)
  • Complete change of weapon and explosive damage ranges, radii, and more
  • Increased costs for conducting research
  • Implementation of other mods that add interesting gameplay mechanics (True Concealment, Long War Leader Pack, and more in the future)
  • And more!

I have great ambitions to make this mod something akin to Long War as it was to Enemy Unkown and Enemy Within, but I do want Vigilo Confido to stand on it's own rather than being considered a "Long War 2." However, while I have ambition I have weaknesses. The first being I know nothing about UnrealScript and the SDK, therefore I'm extremely limited to what the ini files can do for me, at the moment. I'm learning as I go, but its very counterproductive and it makes my life busy, considering I'm also a Playtesting Lead for another mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion and I'm also a Computer Science student. Therefore, I'm asking for anybody with skills in the SDK, in art assets, any skills that would contribute to the project as a whole to send me a message. I really want to make this something great, and while I will do it alone if I have to, I need an actual team.

 

So besides that, this thread is also a discussion thread for VC and I ask everyone interested to participate and post at least one thing. I'll always get back to you ASAP. And I ask the mod to please pin or sticky this thread, as well as any other project threads because everyone deserves a chance to grow their projects.
