rasman
I remember seeing a mod like this for morrowind a year or so ago but I don't know if theres anything like it for oblivion. How cool would it be to open and run an inn or shop...not only to always have a bit of cash available when you pay a visit (have an npc run the place for you) but you would also have to supply it with whatever it is you're selling (think of the ton of clothes that left in chests etc.) The same thing would work for potions, or weapons or whatever. Running an inn would also be a really neat way to start a quest line. You could start out by having to clear some bandit cave, then buy the land off some rich baron, gather supplies and construct an inn within the cave, hire npcs to run it and build it, gather supplies for it, eventually growing it into a really kick butt place, - have npcs randomly show up inside of it...etc.. Anyways just a thought.... What say you all?

Anyways just a thought.... What say you all?Has been requested a few times, don't think it's been done since it wouldn't work very well. NPCs can't just show up randomly in the shop, while you are inside the shop, everything outside is at a virtual standstill. Additionally, you can't make NPCs buy stuff from a shop without being within the cell while they are buying from the shop, money from that sale could not be recorded and given to you, and would require there to be a NPC which handles the shop transactions since you can't be interacted with in that manner. Then there is the fact that you would have to make alot of changes to existing NPCs, or have a city's worth of new NPCs along with a very complicated method of controlling those NPCs so that they don't visit the shop too often. At best, this sort of thing would work more like you owning the shop, but don't actually see any business within the shop, and instead just collect a random amount of money every week based on how supplied the shop is or something. Or in the case of an Inn, run by an NPC, populated by randomly generated travelers, with you getting some sort of payment at the end of the week. This is really about all you can accomplish with things as they are in the world.
