Turning off auto item add to inventory

I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can stop a mod from automatically adding the items included in the mod to my character upon loading up a clean save file. For example, there is a clothing mod that automatically adds the outfit to my character the first time I load a save file after installing and activating the mod. Upon adding the item(s) to a character's inventory, a message is usually shown on the top left hand side of the screen alerting the player that an item has been added to the character's inventory.

I'm asking for help on how to stop this from happening because I don't want the item(s) for free, and would like to place it into a dungeon. I know how to place the item into a dungeon using the construction set. I just don't know how to stop the mod from automatically adding the item to my character's inventory. I browsed the TES Construction Wiki for nearly an hour and read some of the tutorials but found no answers to my question. I browsed youtube hoping to find videos on how to make items automatically added to a character's inventory and how to stop the process, but all I found were videos on how to place items into the Oblivion world.

The items are probably scripted to be added to the player through a quest. To disable this, open up the TES Construction Set and start loading the mods. In the window where you can choose which mods to load, there is a "Details" button at the bottom. Show the details for the mod.

Under "Type", there should be at least one that's "QUST". This is the quest that controls adding the items to the player. Remember the quest name and after loading the mod, open up the quests window and find the quest. Deselect the "Start Game Enabled" check box and you save the mod.

If there's more that one quest, you'll have to figure out which one is the one that adds the items by looking through the quest scripts. So just go through each quest in the mod and then look at their scripts by clicking the "..." button in the quests window. The quest should have a script that has a line with "Player.AddItem xxx 1".

Thanks a million. You saved me further hours of headaches reading through the TES Construction Wiki page (no offense to the wiki page because it is well made). I will keep your tips on a word document for note-keeping when modding. I gave you a kudos too.
