adamized01
Ok nearly seven months ago, progress on this project stopped, other projects were being worked on instead, now it's time to reactivate this project. Afterall nobody else seems to have created such a project in the meantime. Click here to download the Public Alpha One it's Filesize is 340.63 mb, warning these files use ed2k links you must have an edonkey2000 or compatible client to download them. An authors information version release already exists and had been made available for download awhile back. That release contained project information and should have explained what this project was about. Users and modders, will be able to contribute to the project through joining a waste network that is going to be created for it. Also they will be able to post urls to thier contributions here or on another forum (if this ones moderators have a problem with hosting this thread). To join the project's development Click Here, for the projects recruitment thread. Click here to download the Authors Informational Version it's Filesize is 8.45 mb, warning these files use ed2k links you must have an edonkey2000 or compatible client to download them. Also I'll be looking for modders to form this projects development team, however even if nobody joins this project will still continue however it will not be as good or develop nearly as fast. One of the major reasons that this project has seen little activity is because the other forum that I had belonged to changed and removed most of it's threads and sections and this forum is much better for hosting this thread and project urls. Currently it is planned to be shared over these p2p networks, g1/g2/ed2k. Also it may be distributed as a trackerless torrent. To accomplish these methods of distribution the p2p application shareaza will be used. However adagio will also be used to distribute it, because it makes a very stable g2 file server. Anyways the idea is users will be able to use any g1/g2/ed2k client to download it. This time if nobody is interested and there are no downloads, this project may be finally abandoned. I really don't see that happening however anything is possible. I believe this is a worthy project and I wouldn't be reviving it if there was no interest in it before. A warning to downloaders, the archives listed here are much larger uncompressed, also the public alpha release by default installs to c:\program files\morrowind\ and is set to overwrite any existing files, it is highly recommended that you backup your files before installing this archive. Malchik
Suggest this should be in team recruitment. Moving.
adamized01
I specifically split it into two threads, one for recruitment and one for regular users to see. Was I really wrong for doing that? Anyways the recruitment thread should remain, it will make seperating basic member posts from those related to recruitment. I guess moving this thread won't break any of the links to it that I have already posted on external websites.
js4496
I get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" message for any file I try to get.
adamized01
I get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" message for any file I try to get. Because of the massive file size the project's files have they are being hosted and distributed over p2p networks. They can be downloaded using any of the following p2p software edonkey2000, emule and shareaza. If you had this software installed and running instead of an error your p2p client would either start downloading the file or it would ask if you wanted to download the file. I have yet to find a free webhost that is willing to host such large files and allows for unlimited bandwidth usage, yeah I know good luck in finding such a host. adamized01
Also before anyone asks more questions I thought I would add some thoughs here on how my project could help users and mod creators. Senario One - Ok so your new to morrowind, and have played it for a little while, now you decide to check out some mods. After searching online for awhile you find one that looks cool so you download it, only to find it requires you to download additional plugins, so you download those as well, you curse as one of the plugins archives is corrupted, so you hunt down a good copy, only to find you have to join some website before you can download it, so you join the website and several minutes later you start downloading the supposed good copy of the plugin you need for the ones you already have to work, it's a big file so it takes awhile to download, even though you have broadband it does you no good as this needed file is on a slow heavily used server, finally you have the last needed plugin, ok now you should be able to play with that first plugin that you downloaded hours ago right? Wrong this last plugin that you downloaded requires tribunal, ok what is tribunal and where can I download it... oh crap it is an expansion and will cost money, so after all that trouble and time you wasted finding, downloading and reading readme files you cannot play with the first and only plugin that you wanted in the first place. Bummer sucks to be you right? Ok this senario is something that could and has happened to several users I'm sure. Senario Two - your a new modder looking for something to do, you already have played around with several mods and think hey why doesn't this exist or this should be different, unknown to you three different modders have already done it. Infact one of the mods is even a much better mod than you or the other two modders could make, so blindly you spend hours, days, months making your mod only to discover once youv'e posted it to some forum that someone else has just posted a simular mod to yours, now you worked hard for a long time and want yours posted on the forum too, oops some forum modderator is having a bad day and decides to just remove your entire thread (hey it could happen). Or even worse yet you decide to create a balmora city mod and it ends up conflicting with like 20 already existing mods that do everything your mod does and much more. Ok the second senario's purpose is really to just point out the redundancy and major waste of time some modders are faced with from time to time. It would be nice if most mods could play nice with other existing ones, but how could that be done nobody can have all the mods in existance (mostly because of how fragmentated the modding community is). I could list several more senarios but I think I'll stop with just two. Here is a short list of common problems users face concerning mods. 1. Inconsistant archives in lots of different formats2. Lack of documents included in the archive3. Incorrect or missing paths in archives4. Duplicate archives, oops we already had this file and we just wasted hours redownloading it.5. Updating from older versions, or downloading outdated versions when we already had a newer one.6. Finally we hunted down an needed archive to satify anothers dependances however we must have membership at it's website in order to download.7. We just created a really cool mod however it is not complete yet, we give up, there is no way for others to contribute and further it's development without tripping all over each others efforts.8. ok we need to find information so we search the forums, unfortunately there are lots of posts by newbies who are having problems with thier downloaded plugins, wondering what the heck is an ace file or where to get a good copy as all the copies they find are somehow corrupted (which can happen when using some applications to download zipfiles). So the results we want are buried underneath lots of newbie garbage.9. We discover and fix a bug in an already existing or older mod, but where to which forum website do we post it? What if gets forgotten, lost, or even if the darn archive becomes corrupted durning the upload. What then, repost? If so how long will that take and how many attempts will we have to make before one works? Also what happens if our file is too large and cannot be posted on forums or free webhosts?10. What happens if items 1 through 9 discourage users from even playing the game, wouldn't bethesda loose potential customers the next time they release an expansion or game? (Ok maybe not too likely but still).
