Anyone else seen this movie preview trailer?

Death's Sweet Embrace

friends and I are praying that it's Cthulhu

It would be great to finally see a good rendition of the Sleeping One on the big screen.

plus, it finally gives me a reason to run down the street shouting "I'a! Cthulhu F'tagn!".

besides, the horror side of hollywood is in desperate need of something original...

I actually hope it's not Cthulhu. There have been many Cthulhu-based films and they all suck (except for one). I don't want to see another crappy Cthulhu flick.

Also, there's a reason you don't run down the street saying "I'a! Cthulhu F'tagn!"; people would think you're crazy. The majority of the people in America have never even heard of Cthulhu. Hollywood wouldn't make a movie they knew no one would watch.

Here's proof:

"Cloverfield" is the code name of an upcoming science fiction film produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Matt Reeves, and written by Drew Goddard.

Cthulhu would be horror not Sci-fi.

Curiously, I've only heard of one movie based on the Cthulhu mythos and it was a made-for-TV movie.

What other ones do you know of? (please omit anything directed by Uwe Boll as I only consider his films to be a mockery movies in general.)

I may just have to rent some and see for myself...

As to the subject at hand, I wasn't aware that it was going to be a sci-fi movie...I was betting on horror from the way it looked on screen.

Ooh! Ooh! I saw that trailer online! The fireballs seemed 'splodetacular. If it <b>is</b> Cthulhu, what's the worst that could happen? The Sleeping One (but most definitely awake, and pissed off) rampaging through NYC, causing death, destruction and the non-Euclidianisation of all surrounding buildings. Plus acolytes running through the street killing all non-believers...

Cthulhu isn't Godzilla. Cthulhu wouldn't directly attack Humans; He'd send His acolytes and minions.

Cloverfield is the name of the production companies street address. On the call sheets, it's just titled as Slusho and none of the actors are big names.

Check this out. Unrelated? Nope, the production vans for this film have the drinks tag line, and if you watch the teaser again you'll see a guy with the Slusho logo.

The actual title may be 1-18-08, b/c that's unlikely to be the release date, it may be the date of the events in the film. And seeing as the films supposedly inspired by 9-11 so...

Oh and the monster might be an alien. (NY Post Article.......)
