Meisenbach
I'm trying to make a mod that replaces the sound of the Laser Musket with the jack-in-the-box sound. I know someone did it already, but I wasn't satisfied with that mod, so I've decided to try to do it in my own way. I'm able to change the sound to my liking, but I wasn't able to make it into a mod, so I was hoping that you guys could help me with that, and learn stuff from this. PoliteRaider
As a replacer for the current sound? Download 7zip.Make a .zip file.Place the sound file into the zip, following the same directory structure as it has in your fallout 4 data structure.i.e Sound/FX/WPN/LaserMusket/Crank/(your sound files)Name your new ZIP file something appropriate.Upload to the Nexus if you want to share it with others. That should be all you need to do. I'd rather not risk giving people crap. I like to make sure my mods work first.
PoliteRaider
To test it, just make sure that you've removed all your modded files for this mod from the Fallout 4 Data directory. (I'd suggest loading the game and giving the laser musket a few cranks just to verify that you have reset it to vanilla). Then manually add your newly created mod archive into Nexus Mod Manager, activate it and load your game again. If it works, then you've got a working mod and there's no reason it shouldn't work for other users.
Meisenbach
Can you help me personally with the mod? Because I couldn't get it to work. I'm able to crop the sound with Audacity, but I'm failing to make into a mod. I'm moving the vanilla file and my file frmo the desktop to the proper folder, and I made sure to name my file exactly like the vanilla sound file, but I'm getting the vanilla file both times. PoliteRaider
No problem, I'd be happy to help. Send me the files and I'll take a look at it and see what you need to do. I've messaged you with my details if you want to email it to me. I can't run the game from this computer, but I'll see if I can spot the problem directly, just may not be able to test it myself.
