thebear217 Posted May 23, 2011 Share Posted May 23, 2011 Hello all, new to forum and modding of fallout 3 so my apologies if this is actually really simple to do or already done. Still trying to figure it all out What I'm looking for is ghouls the way they were in the original games: slow, weak and shuffling. I'd love to be able to walk around a corner in dc or a subway and find a street/tube packed with ghouls that don't scream and charge but slowly take notice and then swarm towards you, though perhaps a few faster ones or reavers among the pack particularly at higher levels would be good. Or have groups of them hanging around deserted towns/houses and small packs wandering around the more isolated areas in the wastes where they wouldn't be picked off or places where you find corpses in the back of a abandoned buildings/truck and no obvious cause of death. I want the threat from ghouls to come from their numbers, silence and lack of self-preservation like in the old games, where when you first found them it made much more sense to avoid them or only take on a couple and as you got better weapons you could then blow through them in their droves. Mainly I want something I can bump into and run away from lol. Most encounters in the wastes are just a case of dont get seen or fight your way through. With slow ghouls you could actually run from something and they would give chase but not be shooting you in the back or running faster/as fast as you. Imagine going through places like springvale or grayditch after the ants and maybe brian are gone in the middle of the night when all you have is a hunting rifle with 40 bullets and an upgraded vault suit and you suddenly realise you have 20 ghouls emerging from the black and backing you into a corner. You either need to run while you can or kill as many as you can to get away. When you leave to get to safety/supplies the noise and commotion of fighting might draw more to the area so despite killing 10 of them you could come back and find the remaining ten as they were or an even bigger mob(excluding the chances of other things fighting with them). Also I doubt this is possible but making it so they don't show up on your 'radar' quite so soon, or at all until they are chasing you, to not give away the element of surprise. I fairly sure I can achieve most of this kind of with mmm and the ghoul to zombie mod. But I'm not sure if I can/how to set spawn points/rates in random/certain places and making it so the now near enough silent and stationary ghouls aren't detected before you would have had any real chance to detect them and you're not expecting walk into a street full of them or see one and shoot it then see it's mates start stumbling round the corner. So it would be like they had high level sneak but no silent running if you get what I mean and I dont know I could have the slow ferals and faster reavers/glowers etc at the same time. Mobile, cumulative spawn points would be awesome too so that if you wipe out a street full of them it doesn't just instantly refill in the exact same place for the sake of it in a few days (I've no idea if respawns work like that but it seems that way sometimes.). As I said I'm new to all this so I dont know if I could do this just by changing a few numbers somewhere or if it would be impossible/impractical. Will delete thread if I've made a blunder lol.
