amullinix
I'm not sure if this is unique, but I didn't see anything in the forum about it. You will need to have a visual reference, so until I can get home, please picture this in your mind: Draw a square. Pick a side, and draw a rectangle from the center of that side, straight up. This is the basic design of the room I am talking about (look at the GECK tutorial, replace the cave entrance area they have, with this visualization). Ok, here's what happened: Completed the tutorial vault laid out by the GECK wiki. Populated said vault... A LOT. All for a mod I am attempting (first one mind you). I have modded before, but it was just for me. First time doing it for others. I completely navmesh the ENTIRE thing. I go through and painstakingly ensure cells are lined up, walls match, nothing flickers... all of that. Everything is fine. I take a couple of days off from modding, because it felt like I was going cross-eyed. I come back to see an entire section (if you look in the tutorial, it's the section just outside of the Gear Door; instead of a cave, I have a set of Enclave hallways creating a room, same effect as the cave though), SHIFTED over. Separating itself from the three pieces of wall that are connected to the Gear Door opening. At first, I thought I accidentally clicked and dragged (the mouse I use is very sensitive) a piece of wall. Then I noticed it was the entire section that had shifted. Worse yet, was the navmesh (I have a lot of clutter in this section, so keep in mind the navmesh around that was tedious and extensive) had ALSO shifted. Everything looked as if I had built it with a large gap between areas. I can promise you... that is NOT how it was originally made. So I fixed it. Everything seemed to work fine. Until two days ago, when I load it back up, and notice the outside pieces of this area, had shifted forward (almost as if I had over adjusted ONLY those sections, when I had only ever moved the thing in it's entirety). I tried fixing it, only to have those specific section simply start floating diagonally through the GECK 'space' whenever I try to move them as a whole. Also, 128, 64, 32, 16... the snap-to-grid increments... only ever worked the first time I started building the vault. Anytime after that, it never works properly. Even after I select a particular piece to be a 'reference' (I forget the key combo... shift+control+alt+Q, or some such). EDIT: Yep, that failed. Hopefully you can get what I am describing, by the text. I had little drawings but... should have 'previewed' first. Edited May 24, 2011 by amullinix
amullinix
I realize 'bump' is not a valid post entry here at the Nexus, but the issue I explained above has brought my modding to a halt (I continue creating the mod, just keeping it on paper for now). If there is anyone who can shine any kind of light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
