Unable to Add Images to file gallery

I am having difficulty adding images to the gallery for my download.

I initially added 5 jpeg's here, and uploaded them. When I went to my page, only one had actually uploaded.

 

I went back to the file adder, and saw a button for primary(?). I hit it, figuring that it would make the picture that was already uploaded the primary image.

Afterwards, the Add Image screen came back up, with no images listed. Since then, evry time I add a file it comes up with the message that the file has been loaded

but no images ever go into the gallery, and when i reopen the image adder, it says I have none.

 

Hope you can shed some light.
