Does the Steam version of the Game effect Modding?

There are only two differences of which you need to be aware:

1) Steam uses a slightly different set of folder paths than a retail disc/EADM install. So when you're trying to follow along in a README or something, you have to make the appropriate adjustments yourself. E.g. "CharGenMorph Compiler", (although this may have been addressed in the most recent version) "NV4", and "DAFR", are just some of the better known mods that are highly "path-dependent".

And;

2) Steam will automatically attempt to 'correct' any changes it finds to a game's executables, .dlls, etc. It will also automatically update your game with any new patches... AND YOU CAN"T ROLL-BACK! So if you're trying to do anything fancy along those lines (WARNING. Closed Track - Professional Drivers Only) Steam will "fix" it for you and undo or prevent your efforts. (This is a no-cost "feature" with Steam!) I believe the auto-update function can be disabled. But since I don't ever use Steam if I can avoid it, I'm not sure...

Does that help?

No problem with Achievements. BioWare doesn't care how you award yourself those things. There are even mods that give you all of them immediately. Just like there are mods that give you all the Talents or Skills (even of other Classes!) But I never saw the point of using those... :down:

(One thing about your on-line profile, it won't update if you've started the game with the Command Console active. You can log-on to the EA servers, and even view your current profile, but it won't ever post any new information until you launch the game without the Console.)
