Game-speed changes with FPS / Environment flickers / General

Hello :),

thanks for providing these forums - it's really a nice place :).

So, I decided to install FNV a 2nd time and wanted to go a bit further into modding the game (I mean using existing mods :P). I managed to make everything work, but there are still 2 problems bothering me:

1. When I run forward I get a normal gameplay feeling, but as soon as I look on the ground I get about 40fps more and strangely the game becomes faster. So everytime I get an FPS raise, the game fast-forwards. Is there any mod that could be responsible for that? I'm sure there is an FPS limiter that would fix this problem (is there?), though I'd rather like to fix the source of the problem. Unfortunately I can't record it, because recording drops the FPS rate. [EDIT: Using iFPSclamp caused that I also get slowdowns when the FPS are lowering... EDIT2:It seems to influence me and my actions ONLY. NPCs still talk normally and the lips are synchronized, but I havent seen one running when I am having 60fps yet.)

2. Not sure how to properly describe. Short version: The environment flickers when I move. The textures are somewhat overlapping - saw it sometimes on the ground, didn't really bother me. What bothers me is that it happens on the mountains in the distance aswell. See for yourself:

(I am also using Detailed Normals, could that be the source of that overlapping/flickering?

Now I am not really sure, if I had these problems from the very beginning in Vanilla FNV, or because of some mod I am using. Here is a list of my mods:

General questions:

- Can I get rid of the eyelashes that come with Mikotos Beauty Pack? Because I cannot take any male character serious with that funny look xD.

- Any way to use NVSE without the steam version of the game? (Cause I really, REALLY, wanna play Project Nevada)

- Is it possible to raise the Light visibility? I would love to be able to see laterns etc. already from distance.

Thanks in advance for your help!

greetings,

sinthesis.

1. You need to play the vanilla game (no mods no tweeks) for as long as possible with it patched to see which problems if any are related to the game itself.

2. Anytime you change something you need to follow that up with testing, which is better to change things one at a time, add a mod, test it, do a tweek, test it, an so on.

3. You need to be a modder to remove the eyelashes, though if it was only on the player character you could probably remove that one yourself, maybe...

4. What version isn't the Steam version? Get Steam I'm pretty sure you can add games from other sources to Steam. NVSE does require Steam community active while playing, but it doesn't have to be in online mode.

5. Read about your mods better, the electrocity one tells you how to increase the light LOD distance, I don't even use those mods and I know that.

Okay, thanks for the reply.

I did a complete reinstall of my system (cos it was slow anyways) and I will take my time now to install the mods. Sorry that I didn't know about the lightning - I read so many read-me's and How-To's that day, that I probably missed a few things.

greetings.

I can confirm now that even on Vanilla Fallout New Vegas I am getting these speed ups and slow downs, depending on the FPS. Anyone got ideas how to solve it?

Thanks in advance :).

What do you mean Speed ups and Slowdowns

Like for example when you are running at 40 FPS its normal gameplay

but if it drops to 4-5 FPS its slow like slow-motion?

I have this issue as well I have tried removing mods and using Vanilla as well as I noticed ups and downs like that It takes a lot longer in Vanilla than with mods though.

I believe it has to do with the patch as I have a Fresh install with FNV on it. Because even with DLC's removed it still happens. I am curious to see if its the same issue with you. I will keep looking around the Fallout Boards for a Possible Solution.

Yeah, that's my problem aswell. I am not sure about the slow-downs though - maybe it simply seemed like a slow-down to me, because I played a little bit fast-forwarded the whole time. I think I had those slow-downs one time, but it was just because of some mod or option (but I do not remember). But it definitely gets faster as soon as I get more than 60fps. So especially in small interiors I run like speedy gonzales :P. And yes, everything's normal between 30 and 59 fps!

Hope you find a solution :). I hadn't had luck yet and right now I am about to get used to it, since I mostly have between 30 and 60 fps. So it's just a minor immersion-killer.

-edit-

I managed to run NVSE. So the first thing I did was installing the NV Stutter Remover. And that pretty much solved my problem :). It made my game more fluent in general, also on rather lower fps like 25-30. And by limiting the framrate to 50 I don't run like crazy anymore.

Check it out, in the created .ini file there is also a little section about low-FPS slowdowns. Maybe that'll help you out.

Good Luck!
