Need pc hardware help

So to start off, here are specs of my rig. ->

Motherboard - Msi 970 gaming

Graphic card - Nvidia geforce gtx 750 ti

Ram - Kingston hyperx savage 8 gt (2x 4 gt)

Cpu - Amd fx 6300 3.5 ghz 6-core am3+

Naturally my pc ain't that special, and i am not expecting to play a game like skyrim for example with highest settings and most demanding graphical mods. My main question is, i have been thinking about upgrading my graphic card for a while now, but i have read quite a lot how skyrim is very cpu hungry and part of the problems might be because of my fx 6300. So would new gpu help or should get new cpu too?

I'll put it this way: If you are serious about your Skyrim experience and have the cash for a cpu improvement I would genuinely take it. If you aren't trying to increase your ugrids (total number of cells loaded into game at any given time), add additional npcs, extend shadow distances & so on, then you very well may be able to get by with a lackluster cpu, but I can't imagine you preferring that in the long run. I was able to get away with a complete toaster of cpu paired with a then (2014) moderately decent gtx 770, and a very minimal enb for normal game-play- so it is very possible & I don't want to besmirch that. It's just not optimal and can be a bit of a nuisance when you feel the cpu bottlenecking an otherwise good card.

It really depends on what type of game you want to play.

My game uses lots of scripts & needs an i7 to run properly. Without ENB I could run it with my old 680 GPU at 1080 over 60gps. To run the same game with ENB at 1080 at 60 takes a 980. At 1440 it takes a 980 ti sc.

If I went with a less powerful CPU I would have to remove mods.

When Skyrim came out I used a GTX 570. It had about the same numbers as a 750 ti. I got over 60fps at 1080 & I replaced it with a 670 to get 2gb vram. The game could run over 60 at 1080 with both cards. I replaced the 670 with a 680 for the 4gb vram. Again all 3 cards run well over 60fps at 1080 without ENB. I needed the vram for mods.

All the cards mentioned ran with the same CPU. A i7 2600K.

That same CPU is running Fallout 4 at 4k 59fps average.

To upgrade your CPU you will need a new motherboard & ram. A video card would be a lot cheaper & you will get a better result in the short term. In the long term a CPU upgrade would be a better choice.

For Skyrim.

If you want to run more script mods, upgrade your CPU. If you want more eye candy, upgrade your GPU.

At the time when i put this setup together i had little to no money to go on, so it felt natural to take amd route on mobo and cpu, but now that i am about to upgrade intel cpu's seems like better choise, altough it would mean that i would have to get new mobo and maybe even new ram depending on cpu/mobo i would choose. Good thing is regardless what graphic card i end up choosing, i can stick it in both system regardless if it ends up being intel or amd.

My aim in this topic was more towards the experiences other may have had with fx 6300 when playing skyrim, for example i played around with different settings, and with few mods regardless of options i got same average fps with 1080p.

Thanks everyone for their replies, feel free to comment on this tough, if you have any insides to this topic, it would be interesting to hear if anybody has any bottleneck/problems with fx 6300 regarding skyrim.
