Deleted2501355User
I realise that there have probably been more topics made on this one subject than anything else but after fighting with my game to run the mods I want I have finally broken down and just decided to come to the forums for help. Basically I have been trying to get mods (mostly armour and guns) to load properly into the Fallout New Vegas (Steam) with mixed results. Some mods like Spas-12 mod (1) installed perfectly and I have no trouble with them while others like the scarves (2) will add the box into the world but when I equip the item onto my character I just get a large red box with an exclamation mark in it. Any help that I can get on this would be wonderful. Here is the current method that I use to download and install mods. Step 1. Install to my Downloads folder in my C driveStep 2. Unzip the downloaded file and send the unzipped files to Steam>steamapps>common>fallout new vegas>data folderStep 3. Open Fallout Mod Manager and make sure that the mod is checked off in both the mod manager and that it is checked off in the data file page. Like I said before any help will be really appreciated and thanks again for taking the time to read and help. 1 http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=359742 http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35597
sirjohn45
yes and sometimes its good to use FOMM package manager so if they want to delete a mod easily that is the way to go instead of trying to remember each file etc.But I like your post...very helpful
deu58
Have you looked at them in FNVedit? Have you tried running only 1 of those mods at a time to see if it is one mod over riding the other? The red box is a mesh/texture error. are you making sure that the mesh and texture nifs are going to the right place. Some times meshes and textures will be packed as BSA files. Are you sure you have the BSA folders in your Data folder with the esp and esm files?
Deleted2501355User
I have not tried running one at a time to see. I have not looked directly to see if the textures are in the right place, I assumed unzipping the files into their own folders in the Data directory would do it automatically so I will need to check that then. Also should I be running FNVedit and FOMM at the same time?
deu58
Yeah if you did the unzip thing then they SHOULD be all in the right place. Use FNVedit to look for confilcts in your load order. FOMM and FNVedit are two separate programs. Look in FNVedit for conflicts and use FOMM to ajdust the load order. Yes they can be open both at the same time. You should also check through the comments threads for these mods and see if others have have had similar problems with the mods. You can find the comments threads on the same page that you down loaded the mods from. There you can qustion the mod author themselves or even if the mod author is not around other users may have an immediate answer to your problem. kevkiev
Hope I can take this opportunity to clarify something that's always eluded me. Sorry if this is kind of a hijack. Can you use FOMM package manager to install mods that aren't in FOMOD format? Dunno why, but I've been working under the impression that package manager only works for FOMOD stuff. Would be nice to use the FOMM uninstall feature on "regular" zip/rar mods, especially the ones that have a whack of textures/mesh files that come along with the esps. deu58
Here is an older FMOD tutorial that may answer your question or at least give an idea. http://zumbs.wordpress.com/2009/11/08/fomm-and-fomods-for-dummies-1/ It has a small section on adding "generic" mods.
