h89zatzyi09
Hi, Just what the title says: advise on load order; I mainly use Wrye bash and boss to install and arrange my mods, and TES4EDIT to clean them. I would appreciate assistance as to what mods I should delete/rearrange, in order to prevent CTD. I have a fairly modern PC, and I have installed all the UOP's for Oblivion. Surilindur
You already had one thread here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3861310-advise-on-load-order/ Not many people necessarily visit the Oblivion section of the forums these days. And those who do - and who know about stuff like that - usually spot your thread. No need to make another one. It is also possible that no one never ever answers any of your threads here. As for your question, I myself only use a tiny fraction of those mods, and since you already use BOSS, your load order should be pretty done, I think (I do not use BOSS myself and I only have ~120 esp/esm files so I am not sure). As for which mods you should remove: check what the mods actually do. Every mod should have a readme that tells you which plugins to pick, for example if there are multiple alternative plugins. And for compatibility, what a mod does might usually be a handy way to tell if it has the potential to conflict with other mods, like using two mods to overhaul cities or add NPCs usually ends up in tears. Check the readmes, check the descriptions, check the comments, etc. And when installing mods, install them one by one or a few plugins at a time, that way you can easily tell where a problem lies. If you have CTD issues, there can be multiple causes and equally many solutions: mod conflict, badly made mods, mods with deleted records, wrong Oblivion Stutter Remover configuration, bad audio codecs (never happened to me but has been mentioned). Anything. The best way to achieve a stable game is to keep the amount of added stuff reasonable, check what each mod does, see if the comments are good/bad, use common sense, read the readmes, avoid using multiple mods that change the same thing, install mods one by one or at least only a few mods at a time, use OSR (and change the settings until it works), maybe even use MoreHeap, and possibly use Oblivion Reloaded (at least the purger part, as everything else can be turned off in its ini files if you do not want the extra parts). Hopefully someone else can give a more precise answer and help you get your game to a stable point. The main point I had was that making multiple threads is not the way to do stuff here. Maybe it works in the Skyrim section, where you get like tons of "Help my game CTD WTF OMG" threads a day, but it is not the same here. Patience is the key. Edit: Also, it is possible that your PC makes little difference with Oblivion. It does make a bit more with Skyrim, but with Oblivion, the game engine is almost always a limiting factor with any modern PC. The game can only take so much. After a certain point, your PC specs might no longer make any difference at all as the game just cannot use any of that additonal power. Surilindur
Sorry if that sounded too harsh, I was pretty tired when writing. The idea was not to "attack" you, although I definitely might have managed to sound like it. There are sooooo many mods and I only know some of them, so by no means can I point out all the potential issues, but here are some general thoughts about the load order, having quickly checked what you have in there:Better Cities might be quite heavy as a modcheck if you only need one of these, not both: _darker_nights.esp, _darker_nights_for_nat_env.espcheck if you only need one of these, not both: Reaction.esp, Reaction - Additions Only.espyou probably only need one Book Jackets Oblivion esp file, and this one here requires some sort of Book Placement mod: Book Jackets Oblivion - BP.espthis one can probably be replaced by a setting tweak when rebuilding Bashed Patch: FasterArrows175.espcheck if you have all requirements for these: Better Cities - Alternative Start Arrive by Ship.esp, Better Cities - MOBS.esp, Better Cities - Leyawiin Flooded.espThere might also be other things, but those might be handy to check. If a mod has multiple esp files, their usage is usually described in the readme that comes with the download. Or on the mod page. And Wrye Bash colour-codes mods with any missing (red) or out-of-order (orange) masters. Edited March 3, 2016 by Contrathetix
