It's been a lot of fun, but it's a hassle to constantly open and re-open Fallout 4 in order to see what my new textures look like. Is there a program that makes checking these textures a quicker process? I tried using NifSkope, but it only seems to render the diffuse map! :sad: I need to see the specular and normal. Oddly enough I actually had the same problem recently, however it's gone away on its own and I'm unable to replicate it or figure out what fixed it in the end. I didn't end up filing a bug report since I couldn't be certain about the cause and didn't have enough information to offer much useful for the report. Since I'm not sure what resolved the problem and can't seem to trigger it again deliberately, all I can suggest is making sure you have the latest version, fiddle with the settings and if it persists longterm maybe ask on the niftools forums. Nifskope is still in pre-alpha, so don't be too surprised if there's the occasional technical issue. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
lilkandeekid Posted March 4, 2016 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Ya nifskope is definitely the easiest way to see changes quickly (it updates when you save!). But it can take some messing around with the render and lighting setting to get things right with specular and normal maps.Also remember it will always still look different in game, nifskope just gives a good preview. jeffglobal Posted March 5, 2016 Share Posted March 5, 2016 ...adding on from everyone else: In FO4, the material file reference controls the display in game, the BSLightingShaderProperty has to have in the text field a reference to the materials file. You have to click on it on top and then right click on the txt field on the bottom to modify the entry. To display in Nifskope though, you have to reference the files in the BSTextureShaderSet, for example:http://i.imgur.com/9IAG4cW.jpg The only other problem is that if you use BC7 for your diffuse and specular, neither will show up in nifskope no matter what you do.
