A question on how to use Red Tools

Recommended Posts

Heyo everyone,

I was just curious if anyone figured out how to use this for decoding w2ent:

http://www.witchernexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=52

For instance I was trying to decode filippa.w2ent, and because i'm using win 7 x64, i have to run the command lines in dos. So i get to the folder with

Gibbed.RED.Strings

and I try the command line: Gibbed.RED.Strings.exe -d filippa.w2ent

To make matters easy I put the filippa.w2ent file in the same directory as Gibbed.RED.Strings, but no matter what variation I try it just gives me error messages. The poster of red tools put this:

Gibbed.RED.Strings [OPTIONS]+ input [output]

So...I'm not sure exactly what that means except obviously Gibbed.RED.Strings.exe and the option being -d for --decode + the input which is filippa.w2ent. On top of that I even typed out the entire file path for the input like C:\Program Files (x86)\Gibbed's RED Tools\filippa.w2ent, and all it yeilds is errors. So any help would be appreciated, so I can finally get to modifying the mesh files.

Crap sorry guys, looks like this program only decodes w2strings, bah. Here I thought someone had found a way to decode w2ent files >.<. Please disregard this topic.

Gibbed's main project right now is the resource editor. It's very rudimentary, so it's not included in the package. However, I imagine that he will eventually crack the code on all of the formats. Gibbed's RED Tools can be expected to become the toolset for Witcher 2, at least until if/when CDPR releases its official toolset.
