Ive Created an underground town everything works alright so far accept when i walk only a short distance away from my npc's they freeze up.

I can shoot them with an arrow and they dont seem to die, but when i walk up closer to them they are dead on the ground, WTF... Seriously i really

need help i have no idea what's causing this. It only happens in my interior nowhere else. npc's only have wander packages.

thanks for your help it will be muchly appreciated. this doesnt happen when the npc's are talking only straight after.

I dont know what more information i can give.

How far away from them do you have to move? Check in the CS, the location of where the NPC is compared to the location where you notice it happening. Interior cells don't handle large open spaces very well, when there is a space longer than a typical cell length (1024x1024) things outside the cell where the player currently is are processed less. Outside 2 cell lengths, things are no longer being processed at all. You might be able to counter this a bit by checking the "quest" box in the NPC tab since those NPCs are given a slightly higher priority, but it probably won't fix the underlying issue. To avoid this, you should try to create visual breaks (change in elevation, staggered buildings, lack of long passages, ect) so that people can't see more than a cell away. Having lower light conditions, or fog/haze can also reduce the impact of this.

Ok Thanks your right, it is pretty large cell but im only walking maybe 5 - 10m away (roughly 15' to 30'). i will try to make the npc's quest item's and see if it makes a difference also, would "act as exterior" make a difference?? I will try both thanks for your help  again vagrant.

Thank you vagrant that marking as quest item works perfectly much better, but one question what am i doing to the game by marking the npc as quest item, will it cause problems when i learn how to script?

What you are doing is pretty much just making his processing priority higher. Overusing it can probably lead to some minor performance problems, but I havn't noticed anything. Normally, this setting is mostly used on NPCs who move around alot between cells, to use doors and calculae path times so that they are less likely to just pop up at their destination when that cell is loaded. It's "quest" probably because those kinds of NPCs are normally used as quest targets, so their location has to be updated frequently.
