Druuler
I am assuming that you have FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager) installed correctly. There are two ways to install mods into your game: with FOMM and manually. Not all mods are set up to be installed with FOMM. Mods should also have a readme file included that will (usually) give installation instructions. Manual installation tends to be as simple as draging and dropping the mods files into your Fallout 3 data folder. Mods designed to be installed with FOMM are called Fomods. To install these, open FOMM, click on the Package Manager button, then Add Fomod. Navigate to where you saved the mod, highlite it, and click Open. Next, click the Activate button in the Package Manager, but make sure the mod you want is highlited in the Package Manager list window. Some installations may require input from you during installation, most usually don't. Close your Package Manager, and look for the mod in your list. If it is present, it should be successfully installed. If it isn't, its possible the mod is a manual installation. Always unzip a mod and find the readme file for instructions. kkirspel
In addition to Druuler's explanation, I'll give you my step by step. Its the automatic way via FOMM, though not as automatic as using FOmod installs (b/c not every mod author will prepare a FOmod for you) Okay well I'll assume you have zero knowledge with this stuff. First after you download the mod, you'll need to unzip it as its probably in a .rar file or something similar (For this beginners explanation, just unzip FOmods as well, or ignore them if you are given additional materials as described below). After that it'll give you the contents of the .rar file. You'll need to add everything you want into a new folder to prepare it for installation in FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager). With the typical unzipped mod, you'll have an .esm or .esp file to add into your new folder (only one .esp file or one .esm file per installation folder). You'll also usually have a combination of the Textures, Meshes, Sounds, (etc) Folders after you unzip the downloaded file. These Folders will go as is into the installation folder with the .esm or .esp file. So now your folder looks something like this example: - .esm/.esp file - Textures folder - Meshes folder - (etc) folder Next you'll load up FOMM and click the Package Manager button. When the new screen pulls up, you'll need to click the little arrow on the top most button on the right side of the screen (it has the pull down options on it). You'll need to click the Create From Folder option. And you'll browse to find your installation folder that you created earlier. This should install the contents of your install folder, AKA it'll install the mod. After that you need to click the Activate button after selecting your newly installed mod. You have to activate the installed contents of the mod. After its activated, go back to the many screen of FOMM and click the little box next to the mod you just activated. it'll display a check mark in the box. You've added the mod to your load order now. And now you've installed your first mod! You can click the Lauch Fallout New Vegas button to start the game directly from FOMM. (it many instead say Lauch NVSE if you've installed NVSE correctly) Before you go mod crazy though, and if you haven't already, you should download and install (and use) the following utilities that will make your life so much easier: New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE): http://nvse.silverlock.orgBOSS for NV: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35999FNVEdit: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34703 Let me know if you have any problems; this should get you by but this was just the basics - there are always a few exceptions and additional rules.
